Hey CCP, have you guys ever discussed designing with colorblind players in mind?
I apologize if this has been discussed in the past. I did a forum search but I'm on a break at work and don't have much time to dig through old posts.

You certainly aren't the only one. CCP Fozi is also colorblind, I'm sure it comes up in discussions around the iceland office. But bump for a good idea that's long overdue. |

In line with this discussion, I have been progressively losing my sight over the past couple of years & would appreciate EVE Online using some sort of brail system. I suspect I won't be able to see at all in 2 years. It's about time CCP stops catering to the lazy players with this sense of entitlement for fear of losing money. These aren't the people making the game better, these are the people wanting you to turn EVE in to a game that is like most other MMO's. |

While I feel for you, expecting a game developer to take that into account may be expecting a bit too much....

I'm colorblind, too. I don't see what you'd like to take CCP into account; I've never had trouble with Eve in that respect. Rifterlings - small gang frigate PvP - low/nullsec operations, newbie-friendly, free ship program; Join today! www.rifterlings.com

While the linked post is just an example, it is never wrong to post about issues you encounter playing EvE because of collor blindness. A good start would be in the Retribution feedback thread if for example new features introduced in the Retribution expansion are giving you specific problems on that regard. That thread is is constantly monitored by CCP, so you can be assured your feedback (if written clearly and constructively) is read by the relevant people. I will most likely continue playing EVE regardless of if a change is ever put into place. Just wondering what the playerbase thought of the issue.
For me I have all forms of colorblindness. Almost every single one you can have. Red/Green, Red/Blue, Blue/Purple being the most annoying but when various hues enter the mix I usually have to think about it before I can name any color.
Things like red and green or red and blue are very commonly used color choices to represent conflicting/varying states. Things that tend to work better for my eyes are blue and yellow or purple and orange. Oh, how I love purple and orange.
I thank you for your response Ezwal. I will definitely get to writing a more thorough bit of feedback. Until then I'll just have my slave take a break from updating my market orders so that he can provide tactical support during combat.

sarcasm detected
You know that colorblindness is among 10% of overal male population? Myself included. This "defect" is nothing unusual and in many cases, one realizes this in advanced age (20-30) I remember when they changed capacitor colors ad it was dificlut to recognize if it was empty or full. All they had to do is change color scale and it was done.... No need of dull goon sarcasm dude GÇ£If reality can destroy the dream, why shouldn't the dream destroy reality?GÇ¥ |

The ability to manually select ui indicator colours and overview colours on a customs level would nail this. Default red/green but any combination you wish. I have no vision defects myself but I have seen this thread a few times now and it seems like low hanging fruit. I drain ducks of their moisture for sustenance. |

I remember some years back when CCP paid some attention to the color blind among us. Plain red/green boxes became red X's and green checkmarks. I had figured this would have been an ongoing effort by them as part of normal development. warp drive active |
