Leffy Skaramour of the nice folks at Suddenly Ninjas doesn't honor his ransoms, and I was even lucky enough to get invited to their very own ransom chan in game, which clearly states all ransoms will be honored. So, be mindful.

To be fair, their MOTD in their ransom channel says all ransoms honored, and if you have any complaints to take it up with their CEO. I've sent him a mail, so we shall see. Not happy to have lost a 1bil ship and fitt, but we shall see.

do you ever post anything resembling a conversation? Everything you post is along the lines of LULZ TEARS and you like to think you're good at pvp when in reality all you do is gank miners or fly in TEST pet blobs.

So lets put this into context - This was not in 0.0, this was in 0.8 in a level 4 mission. Next, leffy warps in and flags himself by looting from one of my wrecks.
So I see a lone stabber, thinking he's just going to ninja salvage. Wrong. Once I aggress him, here come his buddies in logistics to repair him as I get neuts and scram
I'm the victim, so im not blanking out my own name 2012.12.12 21:56:00
Victim: Leiron Corp: PharmaDyne Technologies Alliance: Unknown Faction: Unknown Destroyed: Dominix Navy Issue System: Eglennaert Security: 0.8 Damage Taken: 145341
Involved parties:
Name: Leffy Skaramour (laid the final blow) Security: 1.50 Corp: Suddenly Ninjas Alliance: Tear Extraction And Reclamation Service Faction: None Ship: Stabber Weapon: 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II Damage Done: 78605
Name: Core Rear Admiral / Serpentis Damage Done: 66736
Destroyed items:

So this was a Billion ISK fit. Am I mad that I lost it? Sure. What's not kosher is that when your invited to their suddenly ransom channel, your safety is guaranteed as long as you follow their rules. Which I did. I'll go so far to tip my hat, they've got it down to an art - However, if you advertise to honor ransoms - honor them! - Leiron |

We're doing fine, as Leiron's little misadventure illustrates. Incidentally: Leiron, we all had a good laugh and our CEO got a kick out of your email Most of us consider ransoms to fall under the "fool you twice" category, though there's no official policy. We don't have a lot of policy at all really. To your credit, you've been a gentleman through the whole ordeal - cheers for that! "Suddenly, trash pickers! Here's the thing about high sec and ransoms.
Groups like Suddenly prey on the 'weak and naive' PVE community and take whatever they can get. This is logical since they have a poor reputation anyway and anyone misinformed enough to get flagged to them has a chance never to make the same mistake twice. If they are not likely to make the same mistake twice then you might as well milk them for all they have the first time. If you are really foolish enough to get caught a second time after having this happen to you then you are probably always going to be a victim in this game, ransom or not.
Suddenly have no desire to hold an honourable reputation. I don't even think they desire a 'competent' reputation. They simply want to blow up Mission runners etc. Mailing their CEO or simply deriding their chosen way of playing this game will just be met with "lollol ur tears r delicious" so just suck it up and move along.
Pirate groups in low sec are far far more likely to honour any ransom offered since they (for the most part) actually take some pride in their reputations and tend to be fighting people that are somewhat more tuned in to the various corporations and alliances active in their respective regions and word gets around. Blowing up PVP ships is not nearly as worthwhile as it used to be since most of their cost is now in the Hull and not the modules. Offering a ransom and providing convenience makes much more sense when the targets aren't clueless grinding space parasites. This, all negative ten ransoms are honoured and in the event of an unlikely mistake on our part ransoms are refunded.

Well thank you Yuri. I do appreciate that. I try. Im glad your CEO got a gas out of my mail, to me that says that straight from the top your corporation doesnt honor ransom. Im no noob, far from it in fact - However, perhaps im just used to dealing with honorable pirates. Yes there is such a thing.
It was fun though, too damn bad none of my corpies were close by or we could have had a party ;-)
So, the moral of the story is - Honor is dead within Suddenly Ninja, it is their corporate policy to deceive and scam, as we've just heard from one of their own members - And if you should be lucky enough to be invited to "Suddenly Ransom" your ship is dead anyway, so give 'em hell ;)

Dear Leiron,
I am terribly sorry about the loss of your spaceship. As the CEO of Suddenly Ninjas I actually take complaints like this very seriously. SN is a for-profit organization, and ransoms are a big part of our income. Only content customers are likely to pay again.
According to the logs a group of carol singers who distracted my pilot was the main reason for your loss:
Quote:Leffy Skaramour > sorry was AFK radonicon > what? Leffy Skaramour > someone at door radonicon > you killed him while you were afk? Leffy Skaramour > he dead Yuri Wayfare > ANOTHER? Leffy Skaramour > oh **** radonicon > really man Leffy Skaramour > dont punish me i was listening to carol singers Leffy Skaramour > sorry Leffy Skaramour > i gave rl money to carol singers Leffy Skaramour > and a mince pie Leffy Skaramour > and a brandy
I will personally see to it that those band of carol singers will be punished. Also Leffy will be treated appropriately. I am going to send you a small gift as reparation, Christmas is almost here after all, and I hope we'll keep you as a customer.
Take care, Scop |
