Edited by: Agrikk on 27/07/2005 17:51:19 Hey Lachenlaud,
I just downloaded the new sheet and followed your directions and for the F1rst T1m3 3v4r, the thing updated itself.
This sheet has always rocked, but now the automatic update feature makes it RAWK! Thanks a bunch for all your efforts (and a tip of the hat to all of the other contributors as well.)
The only hitch was that you have to invoke the macro twice to get it to update properly, but other than that it's excellent!

Another minor issue I identified for you to fix - Archaeology is spelt wrong on all 3 relevant sheets and so will not update correrctly from the XML load.
Modifying the spelling on each of the 3 sheets Skills, Skill Descriptions and EVE-SML Data will fix it.
Thanks again Fem

Hi Lachenlaud,
Found a few more minor errors:
The Transport Ships skill was in my "Skills" sheet as a Rank 1 skill, but it is actually rank 6.
The skillset summary page has a formulae error on the spaceship command skillsett counts for each of the "Quantity of level skills" columns. For example in the case of level 1 skills it should be
=COUNTIF(Skills!$C$244:$C$280,C$2)
The problem was it was only counting up between 244 and 279, this si the same for all that row of calculations and needs the 279 changing to 280 in each one . Hope you can follow that - difficult to explain

Really great sheet, however, one small error, your mining page doesn't include Zyd in Jaspet, Hem and Hed which was introduced last patch.

I REALLY like this spreadsheet, but rarely get it to work and so have created a work around. Let me know if you need help with this, but here goes the explaination. =0)
1 - go to your character screen on the eve online website. Open the xml data sheet below your character window in a new window. Save that new window as an .xml file with a creative name like hakaryu.xml Be sure to save it somewhere easily found, I like my desktop and this is written for a file that is saved there - so do it that way.
2 - Open the latest version of the Eve Master Datasheet that you have. Click on tools - macro - microsoft script editor. Wait until it comes up.
3 - Scroll down until you hit the green section and look for the section that says this: HRef="http://myeve.eve-online.com/character/xml.asp?characterID=["CHARID","Enter Eve Character ID"]"/>
4 - Replace the part I have put in BOLD with this: C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew\Desktop\eveonlineHak.xml This is the EXACT location of the file you downloaded and put on your desktop, assuming your name is Andrew and you named your file eveonlineHak.xml - I am gambling that if you are reading this you are probably smart enough to actually use the file location on YOUR computer. =0)
5 - Click on save on the Microsoft Script Editor. It will switch you back to the Excel document and ask if you want to save a copy or overwrite the changes. Overwrite the changes. Wait until it is finished thinking - lol - then close the editor and press ctrl+g.
You should now see your Excel spreadsheet go into convultions and flash from one screen to another, don't worry it is not going to blow up - even though it is a microsoft product. haha
It will work and update your information to the latest information that you have downloaded in the xml file you saved on your desktop.
If you are smart and download the xml in the same name overwriting the old file you will not have to go through all of the fuss you did - but rather just hit ctrl+g and be good to go.
This has worked for me for months on my 2 accounts and multiple characters. Feel free to ask for clarifications and what not!
Have fun!

CCP has disabled the ability to access your character information via XML. I have been think about a solution and the only one I can come up with is to update the current skill points manually. This is a pain but the only option I see. What other thoughts have any of you had? I really love this tool and will do whatever is necessary to still use it.
Thanks to all the people who put in hard work on it. Keep it up guys. I am sure I speak for everyone who has used this tool in saying we love it.

I can vouch for this statement. Sometimes I see Jet just sitting there staring at the wall with trails of drool dripping from his mouth... But now that the character sheet is down he can't even manage that! He just sits there staring at the wall pondering what his Drooling skill level is at :( Such a sad sight! The Char sheet is back and I tried to use your auto download feature ctrl+g but it failed. Yes I have read all the stuff and I am using the correct items. Have CCP changed it since it has been put back up? Or am I just stupid! :) Flamming to start here. :)
Cheers

I think they might have done something to prevent remote programs from accessing it by only showing the page if you a referred by the eve site. Case in point, if you type in the URL in your browser, it will redirect you to the news. If however you click on the link from the EVE site, it will load the character sheet. Since the URLs are exactly the same, I believe they check to make sure that you were referred by their site. This might be a temporary measure, or not. What I recommend is using the method described above to just DL the XML file and then ctrl-g it from your computer, it's quite easy to replace the old xml file once you have it all setup, so it should definitely make your life easier.

Can anyone tell me what HRL stands for/means in relation to this sheet? I haven't found that acronym anywhere.

I don't know what the letters HRL stand for, but the numbers in the column tells you the skills required to be able to train all other skills in the game. __________________________________________________________ Knowledge is when you don't know what you don't know. |

Edited by: Pabs Sco on 21/10/2005 11:12:09 Doesn't seem to work with me.
I tried changing the Href tot eh xml file, to make thisngs simple I used C:\skills.xml" none of the fields updated, and the xml data is readable on tehe EVE-XML Data tab
EDIT:
It works ok when logged in to here (using Alt+F8) but when I set the Href to a downloaded xml file it doesn't work.
It would be really good to use this without having to logon to eve-online

ctrl-g works for me fine, woo hoo
hrl stands for highest required level I think. basically it was this skill requiress to training to if its is to be used as a prerequisite for another level
for example the hrl for electronic warfare is 4 becuase you need level 4 to train signal dispersion
