Quite simply, is there any real way to earn it? I'm new to Eve and still wrapping my head around everything and figuring out what I want to do. I know my main focus will be doing something sufficiently profitable to fund other fun activities (pvp, etc) and also to eventually fund my gameplay (make enough isk/month to purchase a plex from the proceeds).
I plan on beginning with station trading, since its not far off from what I do in my actual job, so the learning curve is greatly lessened. From there, to expand my profitability - starting an investment fund/bank? How do I avoid being accused of a scam by any potential investors?
I don't expect to realize these goals for months or longer, but in the meantime I keep coming back to one question: trust. If I plan on having any business venture be successful, trust is essential. But how can I (an account born in 2012) earn trust from players who have been around for years?
The only thing I can come up with is to make regular reports on my activities, profits, etc - acting as if I was managing an investment fund (I suppose I would be, although I would be its only investor).
Do you think its worth it? Or would even that not help me earn any sort of trust?

Its just risk vs reward like everything in eve.
If you work on something and have something to show for it then that helps, it helps if people know that you have some talent in what you are doing and are actually doing what you say you are doing.
being honest takes you a long way, MD is vicious and will tear anything you say apart :P
and keep in good contact with your investors, or stay out of their way if they prefer that.
Good luck in your endeavours ! |

There are very few people in EvE who are "trusted". There have been way too many scams, many for huge amounts of isk, by people who were "trusted". |

Make friends. Make them and yourself more money with their money, and then you'll all be even better friends.
Public loans are so hilarious because anyone half-talented and trustworthy should be able to get their hands on 10s of billions of ISK from friends and acquaintances. |

this. There is no one in eve that is truly trusted by anyone, they have simply lowered the risk so that it is worth taking a chance for the reward. |

Trust requires that you say what you mean and mean what you say at all times. This is the rarest commodity in EVE and hence the most valuable.
