I realize that I am the great truth of the game, and someday there will be monuments of me in every system in Eve, but someone just went through and liked a LOT of my posts, all it seems in one shot. Further, this person and I have not always seen eye to eye on these forums. I am more than a little curious why, and I am waiting for a reply to a couple emails I sent the person asking why.
Outside of the obvious reason that what I said struck a nerve, is there any kind of meta-game associated with "liking" someone's posts? |

Happened to me to about 2 years ago from a notorious poster "Bumblefck".
Not much you can really do about it.
Enjoy your higher like count and move on, really.
In fact posting about it is only going to encourage more, so I suggest not mentioning it again and pray this thread dies.
Honestly. -áGÇ£Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.GÇ¥ - Oscar Wilde |

Rest assured it has nothing to do with the content of your posts.

If you're referring to Destination: SkillQueue they liked everyones posts, on every page, of every thread they 'greased'. |

I don't understand the mechanic that allows that, and what do you mean "greased". I don't understand the meaning in this context. |

I hope this helps, some of you people really do live under rocks, eh?
It's easy to do through either URL Web Link, or external scripting to spam 'like' on every post on a page, with a stroke of a button. |

I know which person you're talking about, I logged into the forums this morning to see that I'd somehow gained 400 or so likes because someone had systematically gone through the forums and liked every one of my posts.
Several other people have reported this to us, and as far as we can see there's no abuse of any of our systems and no ill intent behind it.
Just thought I'd clear your mind in case you thought you were being stalked

The system is utterly meaningless anyway. Like button without dislike button? And even if there was a dislike button, and someone had a negative likes count, all it would mean is that the person dared to question the status quo or effect any change. So, in the end, 1 like or 10,000 likes, it's just a meaningless number.
Though I agree, it's a little weird when someone goes through all your old posts like that. |

Yeah, like you are concerned about my well-being. Given your past actions, I fear you a lot more than anyone in-game.
A player who does not know me in RL I am not worried about. A dev who hates my guts, with unlimited powers, and no one policing him, (I petitioned you and I talked to IA about you, and they said pound salt), that is someone who can wreck any remaining enjoyment I have in this game in a heartbeat. |

Harboring such annimosity towards an individual that works for the company of a game you play doesn't seem like healthy behavior to me.
I'm not really "trying" to be rude, just calling it the way I see; mostly because I read it and kept thinking that it takes a real **** to be so rude to a stranger over thier percieved "feelings", especially when talking about a video game.
If the guy didn't use anything to do all the likes, how long did he spend issueing them? That's just frigging crazy.
Edit: No abuse of the system? What!? He liked one of my posts almost 24 hours ago, his last like was 7 hours ago. No way this dude was doing this by hand, he had to use a script, and that sounds a LOT like abuse of A system. :) |

Cheer up Dinsdale, I don't think anyone (especially anyone on the Dev team) takes enough notice of you to hate your guts.
Any punitive action you have received is the same handed out to a hundred other blathering forum trolls every day. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |
