Hi Guys,
First, let me just say how thankful I am for this game, it's developers, and the community. I'm finally coming back after a looong break, and I'm having a blast!
I have a question regarding Steam. Initially, I downloaded the demo on Steam. I then upgraded to the full version through the EVE Online website. Yet in my Steam Library it is still labeled as "EVE Online Demo." How can I get Steam to recognize that I have the full version?
Thanks in advance!

-Zin actually, you don't need steam to play EVE at all, so my guess is... remove it from Steam, dload client from site?

Heya, thanks for the reply. I am aware of that fact. It's just a small nuanced thing. I like Steam to track how many hours I've played and whatnot =p

i don't think its possible short of fully downloading the full version on steam. also, i don't think steam will track your hours if you aren't using the steam version of the client. so for all intents and purposes, you prolly just want to uninstall the standalone client and reinstall via steam. |

Pretty much this, though without a Steam activation code --be it from Steam, Amazon or otherwise -- there isn't much you can do as it's considered a 3rd-party app. Reinstalling won't fix that, unless I'm misunderstanding something.
Also, welcome back to the game.
P.S. If the Eve Online store sells a Steam-Compatible version, activate that code on Steam and it should fix it. |

Steam is a bit oblivious to how continually-expanded games work. If you bought what Steam calls "Eve Online - Inferno", then it will continue to be called that forever, no matter how many updates Eve receives. It is simply the product they sold you, and that's what they'll call it.
Of course, you know that the actual thing you're playing is something completely different, so you can do one of two things:
1. Deal with it as is. See it as a mark of your seniority. (Doesn't really apply to the demo, I guess, but eh...)
2. Uninstall the Steam version (or remove it somehow), install the Steam-independent client, and add the "Exefile.exe" as a non-Steam game called "Eve Online". That will give you access to the Steam interface in-game, and give you a Steam shortcut that you can rename to whatever you want (such as "Super Serious Business"). My Tyrannis went to Inferno eventually and has remained since, though I was on a different computer. I imagine deleting the cache (clientregistry.blob) would do it if it really upset you. |

I've never done that, though, so I don't endorse it. ISD LackOfFaith Lieutenant Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department |
