I had one of the corrected sites the other day. It's a lot better seeing, and better looking.
Hopefully they will get around to the others.
Just remembered it was either Sansha Watch or its escalation Nation on the Rise.

Its a real issue in the game. If everything in the game runs smooth but then you hit the clouds and your FPS takes a huge hit there is something wrong. There is no sense of self entitlement here. Plus we are paying for a product, that product should be tip top. Vote for me in the next CSM Elections. I will fight for the interest of all Hi-sec dwellers. No longer will you be cast aside and disparaged. |

Did I read the dev response in that first post right? Is he actually saying that it is actually acceptable for a rig with a GTX 580 and 12 gigs of RAM to drop to 35 FPS in clouds? |

Even on my old crap card 3 years ago I had no issue with lag or with the effects.
The only reason it happens that makes any sense is trying t o run this game on absolutely minimal systems.
It reminds me of the folks who want everything to stll run on Windows 98.
If one is on a cheap system and running EVE on Low settings and still having this issue, there is something else going on and nothing to do with EVE or how it's programmed.
In my opinion they just do not want to properly investigate their own machine's issues. MAy as well blame CCP and hassle them. It's the easy way in the Age of Self-Entitlement.
Also, again, they have worked on it, as I have seen for myself. If it's still not good enough, there is probably nothing further they can do. Only the shallow can fully know themselves. - Oscar Wilde |

yadda yadda. GǪand that's all well and nice but doesn't change the fact that it's an acknowledged resource hog that needs work, and the solution to that problem is still not to get a bigger pen for the pig.

..............and this one again.
Why should the 98% of the playerbase that has no issue here deal with nerfed or vanished graphics just so some can play EVE while simultaneously having their coffee at Starbucks ?
Also, as shown at Fanfest last year with the 'infinite polygon' ships requiring DX 11....what are these folks going to do then ? Asj for ships to look like nerfed nonsense as well ?

Except it doesn't have much to do with hardware, it is shoddy programming. Some people with far better specs are having problems while people with crappy specs are not. Also, some people that were perfectly fine before their latest "fix" are now getting crazy FPS drops from them. It is just broken. |

Running an I7 and a GTX 460 and I still get performance issues with these clouds, I think their density and amount of particles being used to render them is the issue, it's not a massive performance drop but it does reduce my FPS quite a bit. Theres no need to call out people who think they are entitled to good performance on old hardware, it's just poorly unoptimized pixels. |

100% of playerbase does gets the FPS drop when looking to the clouds. There is no PC that doesn't get any drop. Or maybe your magic 3 years old graphics card with the magic FPS doesn't.
Graphics are secondary, the game is primary thing. That cloud doesn't have any purpose game wise. It's just pointless psycedelic coloured cloud that serves no purpose what so ever. |

100% Agree, change them damn clouds. They look horrible, and they severly reduce FPS!
An no I don't have some old wooden computer.
Ok my system is getting on now but I run an overclocked i3 @ over 4Ghz 4gigs ram 460gtx oc'd
I always get great frame rates, even in larger battles but I can be by myself with one of those clouds and I can instantly noticed the fps drop.
NO - "buy better parts / PC" NO - the clouds DO NOT look good they look terrible.
A while ago I remember CCP even admitting that they use a horrible CPU intensive method to create the clouds, they said they were looking to change it but this was a good year or more ago. "Were not elitists, were just tired of fail" - The Sorn |

It's worse then anything pooped out in the Unreal engine, and that's saying something. Also, these clouds do nothing and are just useless eyecandy, so I'd be fine with a graphic setting to simply render clouds or not. I generally zoom out and fly by overview when I encouter one. I've lost a few ships simply because I zoomed out to late on a cloud, and my bloody CONTEXT MENU took 5 seconds to render because the entire room decided to shoot their lasers through said cloud.
EDIT: Also, try reading any (white) on-screen text with a (white) cloud in the background... clouds suck, please delete them all CCP. |
