Good to see this is still going. Today I changed the download links to a link to my website - all files regarding the application can be downloaded here.

Any way to increase the distance font size? Somehow mine stays at default size
Also, any way to apply this to non-player ships? It's very annoying when everything is how you want it, but yet gates and stations are not effected.
Lastly, my biggest problem is when i use line breaks for a single entry, and there are multiple targets at a distance, i can hover the mouse in space in that direction, but the labels overlap :(
Great job otherwise! |

Great job otherwise! Hey hydraSlav,
First of all, thanks for your reply. In regard to your questions: - I'm not sure what you're trying to say with 'distance' font size. You can change the font-size of shiplabels for players who are in a corporation. I've just tested if this still works and for me it does. To do this, you can simply use the drop-down menu to select the preferred fontsize when you're adding a new component to the grid, or with the options of a component on the grid. Note that the example in the application should also show you the different fontsize.
- Sadly enough this is not possible in any way. It's also impossible for me to make this possible without breaking the EULA, because it's not allowed to change the game engine in any way. The same thing goes for your last question, really. The overlapping of shiplabels can be annoying, I'd have to agree with that, but that's the way the EVE shiplabels work. The only cure for this is to keep all of your shiplabels single-lined.
I hope this answered your questions. If not, you know where to find me!

Nice program, makes label creation easier. I have a question, can you add background color/shade behind these labels? I've seen this during ATXI (http://youtu.be/oSEbDHeB6zE?t=3m56s). |

I've seen this during ATXI (http://youtu.be/oSEbDHeB6zE?t=3m56s). I doubt that this would be possible. It looks cool though, but I'm guessing this is simply something CCP implemented only for streams. I will dig into it, though. Since it would also fix hydraSlav's question about overlapping labels.
I'll probably get back to you with an answer at the end of the weekend.

Alright sorry for the late reaction. I've been doing some desk research, which obviously didn't lead to much useful information. So I decided to contact a GM about this instead. Basically what he told me was that it's not possible and if I want to make it possible in the future, I should open a thread in the Features & Ideas Discussion forum. So that is exactly what I did The thread can be found here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4346107#post4346107. If you support the idea, leave a message there so CCP will see that there's some interest in it.

Grauth, I <3 the app, but do have a request if it's not too much trouble.
Can you give us the option to include NPC corps in the formatting please, or at least tell us how they are different so I can code it myself? |

Thanks for your reply Alexis. I am thinking about adding this option in the future, as well as saving/loading creations and I might even introduce some different kind of dynamic shiplabels (just like they are dynamic now, since shiplabels of non-NPC-corp players are different from shiplabels of NPC-corp players). But these are things for the far future, since I'm currently way too busy with my graduation internship and personal side projects.
The best solution for now would be that you edit the generated XML-file yourself. My application creates these, as I call them, "None" type elements within the XML-file. The value of the "pre" element contains parts of your creation. If you copy this value and paste it into the next "pre" element which is not part of a "None" type element and delete the "None" type elements that have empty values in their "pre" element, then this will also be shown for players who are in a NPC-corp. To make myself more clear, I've made an example of what I'm saying which can be found here: www.iciclesoft.com/downloads/EditShiplabelXML.png
If you have several "None" type elements in a row, do this for all these "None" type elements and make sure you keep the order the same, so the "pre" value of "None" type element 1 is followed by the "pre" value of "None" type element 2 in the "pre" value of the next non-"None" type element.
It's possible that you also have a "None" type element at the end of the file. If this is the case then you have to copy it's "pre" value to the "post" value of the previous element that is not a "None" type element.
Note: You can edit the XML-file with notepad, however I do advise you to use Notepad++ instead (Google it, it's free!) If you are using Notepad++ then you might want to press ctrl-h and replace all > for >\n (make sure you have Extended '(\n, \t, \0, \x...)' checked). This makes it a lot easier for you to read the file.
Sorry for the big wall of text, but the picture gives some clearance If you have any other questions or need more help, then you know where to find me. Grauth Thorner

Edit: I figured out, you need to mouseover the name column for actual names. Just I have a feeling that they added small delay for it to show up. |

I am proud to tell you guys that the application is currently downloaded approximately 1000 times a year, which certainly makes me a happy man :) Next to that I want to inform you guys that a new update will be available within the next month. I'm unable to tell you what will be in this update but you can expect a minor UI update and the possibility to load previously saved labels.
Kind regards, Grauth Thorner

As far as I'm aware this is not something that can be changed within the options. You can however try scaling the fontsize of the label down one or two notches which might do the trick for you. This can be done upon creation of the label.

I do have to change the manual though because the 'import overview settings' has been moved to a different location. Now you have to open the overview settings, then go to the tab 'Misc' and there you will find the button 'Import overview settings'.

Sorry again for asking obvious stuffs, but I am not a computer guy.. I am just an eve addicted, if you understand me. As I can see, it is working ok, I just have to download it and magic. But please clarify me some doubts:
1 GÇô I run the program, make my choices, export the result to a folder, opens eve and import it to my overview? Is that the right steps? Or that are some more complicated steps? I just want to understand it to do not get it wrong when I make the changes.
2 GÇô It will change everything displayed or only the GÇ£player out of NPC corporationGÇ¥? I really want it to work for every ship, not only for player corps ships.
3 - If the program do not change the NPC profile, are you planing to upgrade the program to do it later?
Thank you in advance for fast response. I am still at work, but trying to clear all doubts to get home later and do it right in the first time.

Yes, these are basically all the steps you'll have to take. Assuming you play on Windows, you won't even have to select a folder to export the file to, you can just use the default map. The manual still contains a lot of useful information about creating whatever suits you best, so I still do advice to read this (it's written in a tag-along kind of way). Also keep in mind that you might have to dock-up your ship after you have imported the overview settings to activate the new imported overview settings.
Castelo Selva wrote: 2 GÇô It will change everything displayed or only the GÇ£player out of NPC corporationGÇ¥? I really want it to work for every ship, not only for player corps ships.
By default it will only work for players that are in any non-npc corp ship, so basically about 80% of the ships, depending on what security level you mainly fly in. It is possible to make it also affect ships of players that are in an NPC-corp, to find out how to do this (I have to say though, this can be a bit more complicated) have a look at post #99, page 5 of this same topic. Here you can see a picture where I explain what steps you have to take for this to work.
Castelo Selva wrote: 3 - If the program do not change the NPC profile, are you planing to upgrade the program to do it later?
I might, but I can't say for sure if I will. The problem is that the application (probably) becomes a lot less easy to use, while ease-of-use was the main reason why I made the application in the first place. I will however do a brainstorm-session about the possibilities for this sometime soon (I can't give an exact date, because I'm currently quite busy).
I hope this helped, Grauth Thorner

The program works perfectly. I was a bit sceptical at the start because I am not a computer expert. Nevertheless the program are easy to use, and the pdf guide very well written.
I also did the trick for the players at NPC Corp and it is working right with the changes you explain at post 99.
I am very happy with the results, thank you so much.
