(( Note to the ISD, this post is meant to be taken entirely IC, its not an OOC post and is not intended to be viewed as such. ))
Hello IGS,
I thought it might do to take a break from all the serious topics and discussions with a fun little announcement. I will be arranging to host a tabletop roleplaying game. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, basically, you and a few others get together, and create characters, using rules laid out by a set of rulebooks describing a given setting. The Dungeon Master, me in this case, then leads you through a series of adventures by acting as the controller for the world and all the non-player characters.
In this case, the game system being used is Mages and Fates, a fantasy system created by Gallentean company Shavieroux Entertainment. In this system, players select a character's race, job, and abilities from a series of fantasy options. The world includes magic, supernatural creatures, ancient warriors, and all manner of anachronistic fun.
I don't want to go over five players, I've never actually DMed this system before so its probably gonna be a bit rough, but I still think it'll be fun. I already have Stitcher in as a probable, so that leaves just four slots. If you're interested, send me a mail and I'll see that you get a copy of the source materials. Once I have players, we can choose a schedule for the game when everyone's consistently free for a few hours.

What a waste of time. Role-players, you guys have been freaks since way before the EVE gate collapsed. If you want some fun you should try to get some decent alcohol and some woman/man that you like, or maybe some physical sports. Something like that. Throwing dice around is... child's games. Is this fantasy world created by the DM, a virtual world that we must "jack" into? Forgive my ignorance of the concept.

Its a fantasy world created by the DM and your imagination. That said we'll probably be playing in a virtually rendered environment, since that'd be a lot easier to organise then to try and get everyone physically in one place.

Hmm interesting. At the moment with the new influx of prisoners I am not sure I could manage the time to do this but please inform me if you choose to do this again at some point. |

*claps hands together in glee* Oh it sounds like fun! I remember my children used to play these odd tabletop games when I wouldn't let them access electronic amusements. I'd be interested in trying my hand. Is there a spot open for a healer? |

I'm quite familiar with the concept, although when I was younger my sister and I would play an Amarrian tabletop game set in Amarr's distant past. No 'mages' or fantasy nonsense, just hard history. We did get really into it for a while, as the learning of history was just as much fun as the game itself. Although just the two of us wasn't much fun, but luckily my personal slave at the time made a pretty great game master... I should ask him what he thought of it all.
Couldn't imagine finding the time these days for such a game. |

Alright, mails have been sent to interested parties. If you're late to the show and still want to get involved, send me a mail, and maybe we can work you in. I don't have a problem with people sitting in to watch the game, but I don't want to have too many people trying to play at once.
Once we actually start playing, I'll post a summary of each game session as a short story to the IGS..

I believe Captain Ixiris was serious about something once, and he laughed about it.
So, leaving puns aside, it's not a matter of having fun or not. I believe this is a child's game, grown ups should do some adult games: get drunk and get laid, play some extreme sports, having a nice conversation with friends... you get the idea. Not throwing dice and pretending to be who they are not, those things are just an escape from reality, like drugs. Nothing goods come from running away from reality and who we are. Oh mr. Sepherim, a small amount of diversion from reality isn't a bad thing. One needs a break from the war, strife, and hunger now and again. Besides, isn't getting drunk a bit of an diversion anyway?
Besides, a little bit of role-playing can be done constructively. As mentioned my historical game as a child taught me and my sister about history. Also let us explore aspects of our personality that we wouldn't normally display.
That said I don't know much about the fantasy version from the federation at all... Likely filled with as much smut one should come to expect.
Perhaps I have been too favorable.

Running away from reality takes away the fun in it, it's no longer you. Pretending to be someone else is an effort that's wasted on so much thought for that, when having fun is mostly a thing about not thinking on anything. Drinking follows this line: I don't like to get so drunk I forget who I am, just a little happy. Roleplaying is just like videogames, useless nerd games, appropriate for those that can't have fun in the real world with real people.
As for your question, I guess I am too drunk to have any fear of you and so I dare, Captain Ixiris. Or something like that. *Sepherim's image winks at the screen* Sepherim Catillah; Ex-Imperial Navy Officer |

Oh please, I'm sure you have some account on some Galnet game where you roleplay a Minmatar Shaman and farm Fedo's all day like a drone....
