Hi there, I'm new to moon mining and wanted to check if this was possible before baseing my plans around it.
I'm looking to set up a Medium Caldari Tower which would contain a moon harvesting array, a basic reactor array, and 3 Silos.
Can I use 1 of the silos to both receive moon goo from the harvesting array, and output it into the basic reactor array all at the same time? So that my harvester and reactor are both constantly running inside my POS?
Thanks for your help.

I would log onto the test server, go to a 0.3 sec station system and setup a pos at a moon. On the test server all moons have all of the different types of moon goo you want to harvest, so you don't have to waste your time probing. Try setting up what you think will work and test it out, its free. |

yes
you can link Harvester->silo ->reactor
however add a coupling array in there and dont worry about it.
do this instead as it leaves you with more cpu left over for other things.
Harvester -> coupling array -> reactor -> silo . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Silo -> /
comes to 3155 cpu leaving 595 free, if you really want to, add another silo at the end and you dont have to empty it for a long while. remember that simple reactor outputs 200 units of material which all weigh 1m/3 p/u or 200m/3 total. longer times between having to empty silos = win. Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

The coupling array holds way more than 1 cycle worth of materials. so if you are keeping both running the coupling array will never fill up.
If you ever do not get back in time to refill the second input silo the coupling array will fill and the moon harvester will stop. In this case a silo could hold the extra mined materials but you would just be hauling them out to sell as the reactor will never catch up.
Only other concern is you are in low or null sec with a medium tower. They are very easy to take down when in a system accessible by dreads. there are plenty of quite low sec system where you can pull this off, but eventually someone will take you down. it could be within days of setting up the POS, or you could go many months without any trouble. It is a risk you caqn not ignore. |
