Looking at getting a character into FW on the Amarr side. What sort've ships are probably advisable based on what sort've things usually shoot at them? Any specific thoughts as far as favorite fits or damage types to focus on/look out for or 'you'll end up looting a lot of rats with modules like X'? |

Get lots of small ships... T1 frigates, Destroyers, and a few cruisers. Pre-fit them all in an easy to access station... with some of the fits being the "standard" for the people you fly with and some fit for "solo" and/or "random gang" stuff. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

I understand the "lots of t1 ships" part, it's the question of WHICH t1 ships to start out in that gets me. Punishers? Merlins? Condors? "Just whatever looks pretty because it wont matter"? "Expect to be tanking damage type X a lot and be able to do damage type Y"? "Make sure you can fit specialized module J because of FW-specific-tactic-#17"? "It doesn't matter, but you'll have a lot more access to ship type L and Module P through the LP store"? |

You're giving it way too much thought.
Browse the FW killboards for fits, read up on some solo pvp threads, ask for advice in the militia channel.
Long range Condors, AB Executioners, both Amarr destroyers, Omens, Arbitrators. Go with those. Maybe try out logi, if you're competent, people will love you for it. pew pew |

While planning is usually a good thing, it's futile to think out your entire ship progression beforehand.
Often, you try out a fit or ship that looks good but ends up not to your liking. Sometimes, otherwise good fits just don't match your flying style or your strengths as a pilot. On the other hand, you might try a fit that you think is crazy or a bad match but end up loving it.
Get experience and be flexible. Once you get your feet wet with a few fights, you'll have a better idea about what you'll need. |

for pvp its always omni damage to tank. you just want a cheap pvp fit t1 frig that you have decent skills in.
test thingd out and have fun.
if your new to pvp find a good active fw corp that plays in your timezone. they will help you out a lot. |

Two types of ship to consider:
Short range, high dps/tank (Punisher is good for that).
Long range, speed to orbit and take out target (Condor is good for that).

Use whichever ships you enjoy the most and have the most experience with. The field is pretty well level power wise after the tiericide pass so if you know what you are flying intimately you'll have the advantage over John/Jane Doe who jumped on the latest perceived bandwagon.
Start small (frigates/destroyers) to get a feel for the area and enemy .. when you have settled in start shopping for bigger and/or T2.
If, on the other hand, you just want employment as a farm hand .. any frig with cpu and lows to fit a cloak and 2-3 stabs .. you'll be hated by most but can laugh at them as you get VIP treatment at the bank! |

Forget brawling. 95% of all cases you get blobbed. Kiting in a fast ship is all you can do. So you can chicken out before the blob catches you. |

Brawling is fun but you need to setup the fight first so you can kill your target and gtfo before the blob arrives.
But just pick a couple of ships you like the look/feel of and fit about 10 up and go fly them. :) That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything.

here is all the ship progression you need.
Bantam. Warp Core Stabs. Cloak. Power of Two. Daredevil, neutron blasters.
Use DD to clear up to medium. Install cloaky bantam alt. Move to next plex, clear that out.
Orbit for LPs. Taking submissions for "Trinkets friendly Advice Column" via evemail or private convo in-game. Anonymity sorta guaranteed. http://www.localectomy.blogspot.com.au

I love all the hate I get for this, even though I am just copying what I saw from Bahamut420..OK, I admit he sucks at it, he was only using 1 stabbed Vigil, when in fact anyone can use 8 easily. |
