Could someone please post a comprehensive guide and explanation of the various modules involved in electronic warfare and how to use them. In particular, do ECM burst modules disrupt the lock *ON* ships inside their radius or *OF* ships inside their radius.
This subject is very badly explained in-game and I have been unable to find decent help on it anywhere. Much obliged if anyone could help me out.

The best information I can find on ECM combat starts at http://www.eve-i.com/article.php?id=32
I haven't found anybody who was able to do anything useful with ECM burst, so I have no clue how that is supposed to work.

Actually ECM burst are like a ECM smartbomb. It jam all ship in range. I dunno if ECM burst module are cumulative, never try before Thunderbird Guard Atalante Alliance |

Unless you know who you want to jamm, eg what ship thye fly, youll want to get your hands on some multispectral jammers, i carry 4 which gives me -16 to all sensors, i can pretty much jamm any ship thats out there on TQ atm, as long as they dont have any boosters, chirst i was jamming a Armageddon today, but we dodnt have enough cruisers to take it out!

I have a serious issue with the multispectral jammers. They eat 40 capacitor each time they activate, and they work only for 5 seconds. So if I were to put four of these on my Badger Mk II, I'd drain my capacitor in 15 seconds.
If I use one each of Ion Field, White Noise, Spatial Destabilizer, and Phase Inverter jammers, I could keep up 12 jamming across the board for about 90 seconds, not counting capacitor recharge. That might be enough time to actually do something.
Until I start seeing the level 2 ECM modules coming out, I really don't have much hope of Multispecrtal jammers being at all worth it.

That link is dead
I have some problems understanding how ECM works. There seems to be several types of jamming: Gravimetric, Ladar, Magnetometric, Radar. Do I have to trial and error the same as with weapons and resistances to find what types are effective against different ship-types or factions ?
I have had a look at the scorpion as a possible ECM-ship in a gang, wing or even fleet. But I'm not sure if this is a good ship to be jamming from, or there are much better ships suited for the purpose? |

Edited by: RiotRick on 10/11/2006 11:47:05 Edited by: RiotRick on 10/11/2006 11:46:35 Different races use different types of sensors. You can check a ships info what type of sensors it uses. Here's a list anyway:
Amarr: radar Caldari: gravimetric Gallente: magnetometric Minmatar: ladar
So the different ecm types are racial. The ecm multispectral module works an all races the same (albeit it bit less good than a racial one). About the scorpion: that's an excellent ECM ship.
