Just wanting to get peoples thoughts on this. As we are all aware, they keep going up in price as they dont drop bpc's anymore.
Anyone heard if they will remain in the game, continue as is or start to get dropped again?
Cheers and totally understand its speculation at this stage. |

My bet is they get reseeded or removed when the POS revamp happens.
tl;dr remain in the same position they are now until the 20th anniversary. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

I wonder what the deal will be if they remove them, will they re-inburse? BTW - when is this POS revamp to occur?
I am in the conundrum as whether to upgrade to a Large faction tower as i like the fuel savings. |

They were left in place, because "lulz, what are we replacing them by?" They won't drop anymore, but they existing towers/BPC's won't be removed till they're destroyed. |

POS revamp is supposed to happen this year. From my understanding the POS system we have now will continue to stay in place, but they will be adding (supposedly) stations like we have in k-space that will be modular. Most of this is all just speculation/what was said by Two Step after one of the CSM meetings with the Devs.
With the price of a large faction tower you won't be "saving" any money unless it is up for a LONG time. Yeah they are nice, but unless you have a corp/alliance able to defend it sufficiently, and plan on having it up for over a year they aren't worth it. |

Personally, I'd love to have a couple large DG towers, but I can't justify the insane prices for the benefit they provide. Adding the possibility of a nice tower BPC drop someplace other than null would be nice, but that would just add to the whining of the "nerf high sec!" idjuts... If the POS revamp is going to be as dramatic as they indicated, I'm not sure the towers that we now have will even be the same. Of course without any real plans or hard ideas we can only go off of a discussion from some meeting minutes, but I like to dream or at least hope that the new POS structures are a bit more advanced and purposeful than just a blah looking tower with some modules floating around it anchored at moons. |

Everyone keeps talking about the pos revamp like it will actually happen within the new year. They have said nothing besides the desire to do the revamp. How many things have they said over the years that they want to do but it never happens. Dont get your hopes up, Pos revamp is right next to ring mining and reorganization of how sov nullsec works. Things we MIGHT see in the next 3 years.
As for Faction Pos module bpcs dropping again, it would be nice. Word was they were removed when ccp changed pos's from being built by minerals to PI mats. And they just removed the bpcs from the loot tables becuase they CBF changing all the bpc's. It would be nice to see them back in game, Make radar sites worth running again as current radar sites are ******* ass and in nullsec you make more from the bounties of the rats than you do the loot. |

Given that you can make better than 90% of of the ISK/hr of grinding Anoms (carrying capacity at that income: maybe 5 people/system) by grinding PvE content (carrying capacity at that income: in theory, I guess you could have so many mission runners that the warp gates started appearing on the same grids as each other... but in practice, unlimited) in perfect safety in HS, yeah, it probably does need an income boost (aka "more carebearing") so that there's a reason to actually live there (thus providing targets). Page 38:
Quote:Taking the opportunity to talk about POSes, Alek queried why the CSM were so late in learning that POSes were hard to do now. Further, he disagreed that POSes would only touch a small subset of the players and asked how did CCP feel able to accomplish the feat of balancing null-sec, which Alek viewed as comparatively more difficult than POSes. Soundwave was the first to respond and told Alek that he felt some of the assertions he made were incorrect and, from a game design perspective, implementing changes to null-sec and the sov system in general would be easier than revamping the POS system. On top of that, Soundwave added, the POS system by itself would only affect a small portion of the community.
There's actually quite a bit in there about POSes but it looks to me like it's mostly getting delayed. Again, from page 99:
Quote:CSM asked questions related to the Art-related implementation issues of Modular POSes, including the possibility of repurposing existing assets, so that they could better understand the design constraints of the feature.
Seagull: We have 4 things that are interacting: the gameplay and design of the POS system, the role POSes play in achieving things in the game (its features), the technical layer (code) then manages all of this (which currently is old and needs refactoring), and art. Regarding art, there is the question of do you want to redo the art, do you want to show individual modules (as opposed to have things inside, like a station), and then you have technical issues, such as what does the rendering complexity of a scene do to client performance?
Seagull: The reason there's a GÇ£noGÇ¥ to doing [Modular POSes] right now is that it was affecting all of these areas in a way that was too big to do at once. What you're trying to do is try to find a way to get what you want, but what we need to do is go back and look at how we can separate all these layers, and figure out something reasonable, and then have Art do something that's immersive and amazing.
Seleene: To clarify our position, typically what happens when we get into discussions about this kind of future feature, first we hear from Art who says, GÇ£Game Design comes firstGÇ¥. Then we hear from Game Design that GÇ£we can prototype it, but the artwork will take forever, so why prototype?GÇ¥ It is circular to the point of madness, and if we have this issue, you can imagine how the community feels. |

there is not much ppl using pos actually cause it is a pain to use, and only ppl that NEED to have them actually do.
and still, pos are very at wide use in low / null.
pos revamp would affect everyone and his gradma, i can't believe CCP postponed it again |

They've since clarified their position. I happen to be satisfied (pending the quality of their improvements, ofc). This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.
