Personally i'll never go to UK, i hear you guys have horrible problems with brats or "chavs" as you call them. In texas they wouldnt last 5 minutes...
Austin FTW!!!
Party on 6th Street, not to mention all the great restuarants. Then we could all head out to the lake to cool off. 23 straight days of 90+ weather here this month.
I'd do Austin! About 4 hours away with lots of good campgrounds near by.
About an hour from Austin, Maybe we should just have our own Texas EveFest

I'm gonna be a bad boy and plug in a cross thread. but we do have a group now that meets in Dallas. I originally thought about monthly, but now I'm trying to keep it every 6 - 8 weeks for the meetings.
It's just a simple dinner and a ton of Eve talk, with an option to do whatever you want later (bar, coffeehouse, whatever).
Pls no hate mail to me later (Krapz, u ruined my life, I thought she was a chick...) It's not my fault. I just try to get everyone together.
The important thing is just to put them together, and get ppl to come out. This is such an awesome online community, it doesn't really matter where you are. Unfortunately, when it comes to meeting in RL, price definitely is an issue for many ppl.
It just takes someone to put it all together to start having regional type stuff. Many ppl have already started taking the initiative to get it all together, and CCP is obviously supportive of this type of thing. Everyone benefits and has fun.

Quote: Ah, but Kieron. Holding a FanFest in the US could also allow you to plug the game here, where it's all but off the shelves of most stores. Except for those of us that caught wind of it during development, the US is a virtual un-tapped hoard of new players. :)
i feel the real reason this game isnt so popular in the west of Can/US is becouse of the lag. i am off too Vancover in a day and i bet te lag connecting all the way from there too england is gona kill me.
Us/Can gammers dont like lag. we have very good enternet over here so we expect low lag when we game.

Originally by: kieron CCP's reasoning for not holding a FanFest outside of Iceland simply boils down to the expense, not politics or travel laws. Researching a venue, paying for the venue, Dev travel/lodging, transportation of the necessary support materials, etc. is too prohibitive.
This does not mean that CCP won't support player gatherings or shy away from hosting more "Drink with the Devs"-type parties like the one that was held in conjunction with the Game Developers Conference in March.
If you are planning a player gathering and would like some CCP support, send me an e-mail. I cannot guarantee Developer attendance, but I can promise some nice swag depending on the expected number of attendees.
What like the 100 people I got to turn up in London and didn't even recieve a reply to any of my 3 e-mails I sent you.

There are a lot of reasons why emails doesn't get answered, none of them are intentional. Sometimes the reason you don't get an answer is because your antispam filters our emails even, so best is to use your ISPs email, because the free web based ones are worst.
If you can't get any answer at all from kieron, you can send it to the mods email. We can't do anything, but we can make sure it reaches kieron, or someone else if he's unavailable. Though you should only do that as a last resort.
Also, remember that emails can take days to get answered, depending on how many emails we get, don't expect replies during weekends either.

Hell they can have it in Iceland but FFS give a canadian package to get there.
It costs 2x as much for canadians to get to the fan fest useing a package because they would have to fly to a us city first. I know there's alot of canadian players playing this game and atleas a package from 2 major canadian citys would be nice 1 package from toronto (east city) and 1 from vancouver or Calgary (a west city)
So don't expect alot of canadian players at these fan fest's due to the even higher cost for us. -----------------------------------------------

I don't think Iceland Air flies from Canada, might be wrong though.

As I stated before, I live in the U.S. I only heard about the game because I went to a Freelancer site that also had EVE info and wondered what it was. I had never seen it in the store although I go to computer stores constantly. I asked everyone i know that was into computers and gaming and no one had ever heard of it. So yes, I would say there is an untapped market potential here. There are so many large sci-fi conventions all over the states I'm sure you could piggy back an event on one of them. There is also the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas. They have a sci-fi convention each year too.

less intrusive security and just as simple and cheap to get to as the states.
Again London is nice but way to big, if it was UK I would say Glasgow or edinburagh. LOndon is to big. there is no social aspect.
Glasgow gets my vote...basicly because I could walk to it
