The whole POS isue has me thinking. When joined about a month ago, some of the members of my former corp was in wormhole space in a POS along with another corp. Now, I had too low of skills to go out there without being horribly bored due to lack of the skills it takes to do wormhole effectively. But, I did hear the pain over vent.
One of the huge problems was that folks were "borrowing" other people's ships without their permission. Sometimes these ships would get blown up leaving to some pretty heated situtions when the owner logged in only to find his ship missing and either being forced to sit there in chat or make an arduous trip back to market for his play session.
But it brings a point that would be much easier (I think) to implement than POS code for the time being for at least this issue: ship locks.
Think of it. If I park my Camaro in the office garage overnight should I be having to worry that the janitor or the guy in QA is going to take it for a spin and wreck it because "he needed" it? No.
Now, not all ships would need or have these locks. That corporation had "company" Ventures for anyone to use if they needed to mine.
Of course, since this is Eve... we can not have people in total safety from theft. Skills that are already in game like Hacking could double to break into said ships. The level of hacking needed either on the kind of ship -or for bonus points- the type lock put on the ship. That way an evil -er opportunistic- pilot could still relieve said corp of it's ship.
How about that? Create a cool mechanic to keep Eve dark and solve one of the POS issues? Sounds cool to me... |

Or, alternatively, you could have corpmates that aren't idiots, use proper scouting techniques, and replace ships when they get blown up.
If you leave a ship where someone else can get to it and they take it out and blow it up, that's a social problem, not a CCP problem. |

lol... how true! It did not happen to me. But I was amused when it turned out the guy that lost that other guys ship was afk mining in it! Well... not actually afk.. he was tabbed into another game! It was comedy gold on voice chat even though I was not in the WH with them.
Still..... barring player stupidity... why would a person manufacture a millions of isk vehicle without a lock? Makes no sense. |

You should be able to carry an anchor in your cargo.
Once it's deployed you can dock/anchor your ship to it and password protect your ship if you undock your pod from it. The anchor could be hacked or targeted and destroyed, thus opening the ship ship for bumping or theft, but at least it would be something.
(Might be a stealth nerf for miner bumping.)
AFK Cloaking? An afk cloaker has never ganked me. In fact a cloaker at his keybourd has never ganked me either.

Pretty much this.
Also, it's hilarious to hear about people leaving caps in POS and getting them stolen, why would you nerf that? |
