Project: Risk vs Reward GÇô Part 1
What is this project about? This project is a serious and passionate attempt to better understand Risk vs Reward as it exists currently on tranquility. If I can back up my future CSM 8 campaign platform with actual research and data then my chances of being elected should be higher.
Why do you care so much about PVE content? The fact is a large percentage of people who play eve participate in what can be seen as PVE content. I think there have been and will continue to be plenty of CSM candidates that understand the PVP aspects of EVE far better than I do. The logic is that I should stick to my strengths instead of trying to appeal to an audience that I lack the experience to adequately support.
What do you plan to do? I plan to collect data and make some observations. The end goal is to understand Risk vs Reward on an intimate enough level that I can form ideas and concepts about the potential improvement of the existing system.
-Things I need-
- Metrics on how much standing any given mission gives, the formula that takes skills and agent/corp/faction standing into account.
- Detailed information on the new Ai and how it is different (if at all), between the type of rat or encounter, etc.
- Volunteers to fill out surveys
- Volunteers to shares their experiences and opinions in the context of PVE content in EVE
- Volunteers to test some specific scenarios (Example: Encounter 4 with Ship B, Fitted with Fitting C, etc)

So basically you're asking for information from others to present in your own campaign... how can you stand behind numbers you did not collect and verify yourself?

You did not read my whole post it seems. I plan on collecting a large amount of data but I can't really do that with a population of 1 person. What kind of research are you used to reading? Xenuria CSM 8 |

How is that a burn? He clearly has misunderstood me or has not the slightest idea of how actual research works. You cannot just collect data from a single person and call it a day. That is NOT how research works. Xenuria CSM 8 |

I'm not out to torpedo your campaign in any way, as a citizen of New Eden, I just care about being able to vote for someone I feel stand for her or his word, and not a "word" collected by unknown entities.
While I'm sure overall info gathered could be valid, I'm just concerned of the screening process of said information if said candidate has no relevant knowledge on screening it. See my point?
I wish you the best in your campaign and I look very much forward to any campaign video if you choose to release one (got to admit it's mainly because of Snape bc you got tha going for you hehe)
Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I don't see how Chribba could possibly be someone that knows how to collect data together to research something ... It's also really good form that the first person who questions you, you attack off the bat, and point out one typo.
Good luck showing you can work with people, when your first instinct is to attack someone like Chribba.

I am not sure if you are trolling but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Chribba is questioning the integrity of my research on the grounds that I am not collecting my own data. The original post clearly explains that I will be doing just that, collecting data. You really cannot do research without collecting data. I said already that I plan to collect data from a number of different sources most of them involving players. I am on the fence however as to which survey service I want to use. Xenuria CSM 8 |

well I hope this not how you plan to deal with any other data that does not support your preconceived notions of what eve pve should be.
You would have done better to acknowledge that data collected from parts unknown might contain bias and perhaps asked him/others if there might be clever way to mitigate against this.
Starting off your campaign by ignoring one of the most trusted voices in game, labeling him as a troll, and squelching out dissent does not leave the rest of us with much hope that you would be a proper advocate.

Define parts unknown. When and where did I say that I would be collecting data from parts unknown? The reason I came down hard on chribba for trolling was because now a bunch of other people are confused about something that shouldn't be confusing at all.
Allow me to clarify once again. I am collecting data from players because players are the demographic of interest here. There is always a chance for bias but before you make such a accusation you should at least have some backing to the claim. Xenuria CSM 8 |

Xenuria, do not start with asking for volunteers, but offer rewards. This would be an important step if you want to be taken serious in your attempt to improve Risk vs. Reward. You cannot expect to be rewarded with results when you don't risk losing some ISKs in the process. It makes you unbelievable. |

Chribba a troller? What has the world come to!
Anyways a good deal of the player base uses PvE to pay for their plex. Those who do not wish to PvE and PvP instead often buy those plex from PvEers.
If you increase the risk for PvEers, it just reduces their ability to earn isk and therefor they will buy less plex from the PvPers.
Thus negavitely affecting the status quo in the economy. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby" |

I understand what you are saying. Right now I am focusing on reward. Things like Bounties, Standing, Loyalty Points, Item rewards, Isk Payouts, etc.
EVE does most of the work for me by storing these values in plain text charts. For isk you can look at the wallet, for lp the journal, etc. So collecting the data and verifying its accuracy is easier then if this was any game other than eve. Xenuria CSM 8 |

Just so you know... There are some obscene rewards for Faction Warfare. Basically you can get 25K loyalty points for capturing a medium outpost in low sec.
I do this on occasion, but it is sometimes risky depending on what time of day it is. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby" |
