I cant believe that the devs said in that blog that all it can do above .5 is mine. They are letting the things mine???? Way to ruin the economy lol theres no way the npcs can kill one so it will just sit all day and all night mining. Not to mention the mining it will do in 0.0. Why cant they just limit its abilities to killing and leave it at that? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/Dillinger4/Felsin.jpg |

Can dreads dock at a regular station? If not, the only place to leave one safely (to switch to a more practical ship) will be in the protective field of a POS. Your only other option would be to log off in it, but nobody is going to want to stay in a dread forever. For the record, unless informed otherwise I'm going to assume they can dock in a regular station.
Can Freighters load and unload cargo at a POS? We know they can unload cargo in deep space now, since Outpost Construction Platforms have to be deployed in one. We also know that Freighters cannot pickup cans in a belt. I'm going to assume they CAN grab stuff out of a hanger array at a POS... which makes things much easier. I had previously had visions of haveing to haul large commodities the old fashioned way to a normal station or Outpost for Freighter pickup.
Who controls an Outpost? The corp that deploys it? The alliance executor corp? If its the corp that deploys the Outpost Construction Platform, what happens if different corps anchor different components? Can an Outpost only be placed at an open moon? A planet? Can the Outpost Construction Platform be placed at the same moon a POS is at, so that it can be defended by the POS guns?
All in all this looks great, and challanging. People are going to have to plan very carefully and fully evaluate if these new items are going to be the right thing for their corp or allaince to attempt.
That's not a moon... that's my POS

I guess people won't be using these for level 4 missions in Rens then
ps Any patch notes?
Sure they will, just repackage and put in freighter to move systems, re-assemble at destination, run mission, take it apart, take it back.

At least make the Capital Ships use moon ores as well as normal ones perhaps? That way POS material will be in hgiher demand.... ------------------------------------------------ Black Lotus Official Forums - www.blacklotusclan.com Contact Me - [email protected] |

Get realistic...
Who ever would use a friggin gigantic dread for a mission must be a complete retard; sure, its guns are nice against battleships on long range, but you wonŠt even be able to hit a cruiser with it. Any small ship will pwn a dread over time, if he is alone.
And if you fit standard guns on it (not to mention that you deserve to be shot in the leg if you do) you have a ship with about half the dmg output of a standard BS.
The costs (time & isk) to build these ships will aso be extraordinary high; i donŠt expect any lone mission runner to get himself a dread in the near future.

What's wrong with you guys - don't you want my custom?!?
You can still hunt NPCs. Just not in a Dread.

Actually, I would think in complex's and chaining in belts would be possible, if you have smaller ships to help ya against the frigs.
10/10 complex = Multiple BS = Dread ftw? It's a teamwork situation, custom fit with a BS killer.

Well a packaged dreadnaught takes 1,000,000 m3 so i guess if you get one stuck you can always repackage it and move it with a freighter.

Move to a low sec agent, after you get the dread you should be safe enough...
Either way I can't wait to engage group PvE combat while hidding behind a dread! Frigates usefull in level 4 combat missions anyone?

I have to say I agree with some posts disagree with others. the Dreads are not ment to be running through empire, sure hell you think Concord are happy now that you all have ships as good as theres (well nearly) Can you imagine the poor concord offiers looking at a dread and asking "you think we should persue? not a chance mate I seen nothing" lol
They should however be allowed to be used anyway you want in 0.0 space/gatecamping/pvping/npcing/complexs ect.

On the test server, the Caldari dread was able to use Siege Mode to tank over 30 player BS (including many geddons and ravens). This is more damage than the worst parts in a 10/10 complex...

^^ I do not get it.. why solo players think tehy have the right to do what only big corps and alliances can do ? Why solo players are "ignored"? (they are not) Because this is an MMORPG!!! ffs go play tetris if you want solo...

I'm so happy that dreads are going to be difficult to own/aquire and that even getting them to your hot-spot is going to take team-work. I'm also impressed that the 'Jump-to" beacon will appear to all players in system - this will give defending corporations a chance to take that little unprotected scout out
As for mission running - WTF? Why would you use 2.5->3b worth of investment to fight missions? (this figure is based on standard market prices on Sisi + Skills required). These things are not a multiple trick pony - their primary use is assaulting structures and providing SUPPORT in fleet battles - they are not meant to be a single uber ganking/fighting/npc'ing/ mission running machine.
For those people whining that they are a solo player and that they can't use them ... well ... you are saying to can organise a buttload of skill training + purchase/build a couple of billion worth of ship, yet you can't organise a scout to jump into your destination. If so, there is something very wrong here.
I'm soooooo happy that these will be a limited use ship with limited access due to skills/isk. The only reason I was preparing for one was to park inside one of our POS's bubbles and blow away incoming enemies targeting the POS, but you can no longer target bad guys from within a POS, so scratch that :)
I'll instead concetrate on Freighters - any reduction in hauling is a good thing from my POV

*boggle*
What exactly were you planning on using a Dreadnaught for? Missions? Talk about overkill.
Seriously, did you think they were going to be a "super battleship" or something?

Yes, he did.
...To be fair, "He hoped that they would be some kind of super battleship" is closer to the mark. In case you missed my point in the original post I made, I've been flying tier-2 battleships for about ten months now, and I want an upgrade.
By upgrade, I mean something bigger, not something smaller...

Heh, I can understand that, and I guess it sucks that the reality turns out to be different from expectations. I was never expecting a super bs myself, so I'm not at all disappointed in the dreads (tho' I doubt I'll be flying one anytime soon).
Oh well, hope the skills you trained for will have some other use, most skills thankfully do.

the big alliances will be the first to acquire and skills could take a few weeks anyway. Haulers - freighters well NPC goods trading is about to become more profitable perhaps. Interesting times ahead

I fail to see why Dreds shouldnt be allowed into Empire. This will only mean that people will stay withing 0.5 space if they know their enemies have one. Guess corp wars will be fought in Yulai from now on.
