given audio only affects the player, in a sensory fashion, rather than affecting other players, I wonder if CCP will someday be good enough as to be able to let players produce their own audio batches, available for DL, to be patched into the game to a personal audio folder... much like having your own MP3s in the playlist, which I believe is possible...
I for one am very tempted by the idea of sampling Alan Rickman as Marvin, as a counterpoint to the poor terminally depressed voice actress hired to do these voiceovers. *thinks* hmm. might have to ask one of my LJ friends if she's been doing any voiceovers...
personally, I'd love it if they went and had race-specific voiceovers.... gallente ships with a slight french accent, and so on. would really define the ships as being different races.
as for now, thank god for the voice volume option. without that I'd have a scalpel though my wrists by now....

Cba to read all these threads, so im probably just repeating whats already been said.
Most of the Speech just sounds very...lazy, like a "cant be arsed" attitude. "Warp Drive Active" in a sexy/calm/stoned/depressed voice is nice to hear, but when in the heat of a battle id much prefer "WARP DRIVE ACTIVE!! WE'RE GETTING THE **** OUTTA HERE, BABEH!!!" kinda voice...now she'd sound sexy! Instead she's "Warp drive active...well probably...i dunno, check yourself ffs im going sleep."
The computer voice was fine for all kinds of situations though, imo. Also, i took a break from EVE for a while, and when i came back id forgotten how to freakin play...but just hearing that computer voice brought back so many memories, i would have hated to come back to this, it wouldnt have felt like EVE.
I suppose you just have to get used to it. _____________________________________________/ *Here comes the Thnikkaman!*

Ok Researchette you got me having visions of Westwood or the like popping out of my PC ... thanks
As for the new voice, I've heard more enthusiastic women at Kings Cross station in London. People who don't get that reference and are over the age of 18 can Eve-mail me for an explanation but basically think of that voice asking if you are looking for something ...

Someone mentioned you can replace the old file with the ... Care to explain a bit more, I want to do this.
Oh it is quite simple, just copy back the 3366 snd stuff file, thats it. !!!But be sure to BACKUP the new version (3538) first!!!
It gives a really strange combination of sound, cause part of the sound isn`t from the snd stuff file or has been inactive all allong, I guess. Only when you warp on autopilot to a gate you will now hear: (new felame voice) "Warping to Stargate" followed by (old voice) "Warpdrive Active". This makes me think that I have a navigator in me ship aswell, and a stoned one for that matter, but the AP navigation functions nice confirmation is also kinda neat.

Well if that's the case tell her I much prefer her darker, colder voice that's currently in the game than the first one that hit Singularity. Was a bit too peppy.
Anyway, definitely a lustier voice than the one before. It's different than the last one, but different can be good.

I hate to be the most lecherous of the bunch, but I'm going to ask what a lot of people probably want to ask.
Can we get a picture of The Voice? :)

Edited by: Mned Graydroggen on 08/07/2005 08:09:13 She does have a nice timbre, this new girl on the block. And she would be acceptable where it not for two things. 1 The brat obviously just woke up from some slumber, makes my eye 'pavlov' into sleep stance. 2 She has the Margret Thatcher accent ( read, commoner trying to sound like the Queen ) The Brittish Isles have way more appealing accents that that.
so /me is not arroused by this female

Edited by: Shemaul on 08/07/2005 10:36:48 The voice is not "bad" at all. I guess that CCP goes for a voice that make feel "guys out there" a little bit less alone ;) Good voice, 'very' sensual. Male pilots from 14 to 26 years old will love her voice.
For some of us that prefer a more "deep cold space" voice, it will be good to have an option to choose the old voice back.

Edited by: Uther Doull on 08/07/2005 11:16:31 to be honest the voice sounds like the person saying the stuff is slightly retarded
i'd rather have a voice that sounded slighty computerized, or a really sexy female voice with a sophisticated british accent... somehow that gets to me (in a good way) :P

I think the new voice has a more spacey sound to it... although sometimes she does remind me of Marvin from Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

She sounds like someone drugged her.
Or she's falling asleep.
Or she's trying to make ME fall asleep. Seriously, I almost yawn when I hear her at night.
She sounds bored, which makes me bored. I can't imagine mining, which is skull-numbing as it is, then hearing that voice.
