I am no fan of the blob to blob combat. Really leaving nothing for the small squad to do beyond Bombing runs
I would love to see off grid ship, low defence (armor/defence of a ship category sizes smaller( being off grid is their defence) (similar to modern day artillery) -ie artillery ships --->that are shoot remote missiles at co-or dated or book marks, or painted target --->doing delayed AOE Damage (travel time of shots in warp) --->have to be in siege to activate weapons May be set up at a fortified position near a Pos (but must be a minimum distance from a pos shields ie 100 Kim ) so The targeting system is not effected by pos shield. Hence why these things are not used against Poses
Adjacent system ships
Mother ship, exerting a siege mod able to send its fighters or bombers through a gate to assist ships of a limited size (similar to modern day aircraft carriers) Ie frigates for Fighters Ie Destryers for bombers
Battle Ship (modified black ops) ship in siege mode launching Intergaltice barrage (cluster missiles) through a Covert cyno shooting 100 FOF missiles (similar to modern drone flight long range Missles) --> one shot launcher requiring an industrial ship to load the inter galactic missiles. ---->once shot of the Missles a special Cyno beacon shows on the galaxy map for 3 mins so a small interception gang can attack the Black ops in siege
Communication Jamming Ships (module) Like a cyno shows up in the over view, can't be lit or maintained in a pos Makes local similar to that of a worm hole
Battleship sized science ship that is able to modify an adjacent systems attributes by serving the opposite in its home system. While active the ship is effectively in siege mode. The effect is visible ( the two systems being effected)on the intergalactic map but not the solar system map ( not activatible in Pos) providing effects like the worm hole depending on the module used
These ships should change the dynamics of the battle field breaking up the blob and adding tactics beyond a simple single battle field.
Some day I will have the internet and be able to play again. |

Might restricted the number of a type of a ship in a fleet so it limits the potential of abuse.
225 launching ship using 1 targeting Some day I will have the internet and be able to play again. |

Whatever a "solo player" can use a "blob" of pilots can use to far greater effect. After all... what is a "blob" if not a collection of "solo pilots" working towards the same goal?
And your fleet restrictions can be easily circumvented; make a new fleet once the limit is reached. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

A new fleet is not a circumvention.
As each new fleet requires a new tagging ship, The tagging ship will take skill to co-ordinate if not in the same fleet as the fleet warp Cloaked can 't be used Some day I will have the internet and be able to play again. |

So you could have a fleet of supertanked ships with targeters and no guns...
and full gank fitted ships in a safe somewhere? Doesn't sound like a bad idea at all.. |

we do not need more ships that can effect a battle from complete safety . . . we already have command ships and titans for that, and theyre both total crap.
Now your artillery ship idea is interesting, provided that it has to be in the same system. They could be like siege tanks, so they have to enter siege mode, but when they do, they can bring pain from off grid, just not from inside a POS because that would be totally OP.
It would be interesting to basically make the shots use normal warp mechanics, so it takes longer for them to land if youre farther away. A ship would have to have something to "paint" the target and this would allow you to lock onto it like when youre doing orbital bombardment to DUST; they would have to keep the target painted for the entire time the shot is in flight, and the shots would hit with AOE damage. You could even have it come streaking in so the enemy fleet could see which direction it was coming from making you want to split up your fleet to defend the arty ships.
Thats a really interesting idea but everything that effects the battlefield should itself be in danger too, not like OGB and titan bridges which are totally ridiculous. |

adding my 2c
I would make it a one-shot deal, perhaps 10m cool down for launcher/ a pilot has to be in a ship fitted with a beacon mod or be a beacon ship in itself, the off grid ships shoots at the beacon ship, destroying it and X damage to ships in Y radius.

this idea just adds to blobs rather than takes away.
whatever the small fleet can do with these mechanics, the blob can do better.
if ur intention is that these ships are meant to be used by blobbers and that they have to split their force, why dnt they just blob u like normal without the arties and still win?
