EDIT do you get flagged if you accidently activate a mining laser on someone or a structure? That would actually be pretty hillarious (though obviously an oversight on part of CCP).
You fool! If you read the other posts you would have discovered the OP actually jumped into a low-sec system. I have a lover, her name is EVE. I see her every night and all she asks in return is that I have a pilot's license. |

I am pretty sure he knew about it too and hoped maybe he'd get away with it. I admit I did feel a twinge of sympathy because that's exactly what I used to do while I was still more or less a noob (http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=2624625)
What I am not sure about anymore is which flag he is talking about. I thought aggression flag can only be activated if you actually actively engage someone, which he had no means to do.
The PVP logoff timer should not be a cause for complaint, especially as Reblier is next to highsec. But it probably *is* confusing for new players.
Also, to any newbies reading this... When starting out, everyone has their own ideas on what they want to do in EvE. Some of these are valid, some other can end in tears (beacuse EvE is not necessarily what you thought it to be). That''s what the trial period is for, I guess.
Also, a pro tip: Do all your career agent missions diligently at the start. This will give you *a lot* more than 500k worth of stuff to play with (and if you decide to take some risks and lose it all, at least you'll have a semi-legitimate reason to rage quit ).

I'd ask for OP's stuff, but he doesn't have any. Ya know ... CCP put a safety catch on the bang switch, and gave the player a warning dialog, and they still manage to make themselves into free-to-shoot targets ...

To give more details to my problem, I invested over 400,000 (yes, chump change to some of you with no lives) and two hours into setting up a nice little trade route with a payoff with 61,000 by my calculations. Reached the last system in the journey and was immediately ambushed, but I was flagged as having committed a crime.
After being destroyed and jumping away, I am now under a capsuleer timer because I apparently initiated combat with another capsuleer. Again, I was the one who was attacked.
So yes, I'm exceedingly disheartened with the game.
Feel free to reply, or not. I'm not going to be coming back.

No, my point is that the flagging system is confusing. He was, per Crimewatch 2.0, appropriately flagged with the Player Aggression Logoff timer, which is a giant red exclamation point in the corner. Given that Red has always roughly corresponded to a criminal timer, and that the name of the flag is arcane, he naturally confused the flag for something indicating that he had done something to gain a flag.
Because Crimewatch 2.0 is intuitive and easy to understand. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

That is the seed of a damned good idea.
Let new players take up a pirate faction. Have a pirate career agent teach them ALL about crimewatch and aggression timers.

That would be 20 kinds of pure awesome.
This means CCP won't implement it until around 2025.

Jaunty, if you are more interested in trade and profit than PVP I suggest you start with day trading from a station near a trading hub. Use couriers if you want to remove transport risk. You can easily make tens of millions a day with little effort. A trading character needs less than a million SP to be very viable. |

Screw that. A player will scour the internets looking for quick ways to make isk, but can't be arsed with reading some dev blogs on game features? Those kinds of players deserve what they get. |

I get the impression that the rate of retention for players who join seeking to do PVP, but not belonging to some pre-existing outside group has got to be incredibly low, going from the tutorials and other NPE there's no indication of even how to do PVP, let alone the details of mechanics that actually are involved in PVP in empire space.
It's no wonder there are so many people in highsec who're completely ignorant of game mechanics and think that the entirety of the game is running missions by themselves, that's just the kind of player that the NPE is going to retain. |

Just so you know, i did ask you in local a question, that you did not answer. It's an mmo, means you play with other players, if you answered me i would send you 10m for the moral damage, and i'm not a gate camper, a friend asked me to finish you because he had to warp out and i came, always helping a friend in need.
If you wish to log on back into that game, you can ask players like me, if you're nice i could teach you trade/surviving/piloting. The basics that will teach you how to play eve. It's a game so chill out, stop making crappy plans alone to win cents, and play with others. |

He did warp into lowsec. He's complaining about the Player Aggression Logoff timer, which, being bright red, led him to assume that the game thought he made some aggressive action.
Read the OP, it's not that hard.

Clearly you DID do something if you were attacked legally, either went to lowsec, activated an aggressive module on another person or had killrights on you for some previous reason.
Also, the majority of Eve players are normal ordinary people enjoying a video game, the myth that Eve players are all sadistic degenerate neckbeards is just that, a myth. There are plenty of virginal neckbeards who got bullied at school, but they arn't the majority by any means. Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

I suppose. Its a timer that prevents you from being logged off immediately in space, because you were aggressed by another player. Any ideas on a better name? I hadn't encountered it before either, but I did bother to read the tooltip.

I know the first guy who killed me in lowsec sent me 20 million cos he felt bad killing someone so young. I shan't name him for fear of embarassing him in front of his pvp friends.

You do it right you can make a few million in a hour or so. It is the little known world of NPC trading in EVE. You have to pay attention though. As you sell the price actually decreases at the station your selling, and goes up at others. Great ISK maker for noobs. The smart ones anyhow. I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen. |

I wouldn't mind but the Advanced Combat Tutorial kills you off not once but twice, and points out that this is likely to be a common occurence. |
