I got this fit from Zarnak in another thread at some point and it is nice to fly as well. Faster and more agile than Prom's but less dps and range. I've flown both and they're both good, so really, it's up to your taste: speed and agility or DPS. This fit is bloody tight, though.

Am I missing something here? U will still fight in falloff if u want to avoid getting scrammed. U will also feel the low tank if u were to screw up and let your opponent in close and this while not being able to hit anything. And why the Ambit?
A AC fit will easily have 20km fallof without giving up tank. 2 TE for being able to hit at close range aswell + better dmg at any range.

Falloff is fine on arties and they work well on the wolf.

Many kiting ships don't have a significant tank and get screwed when they're caught. The point of them is to avoid damage, not to tank it. You can kite with an AC fit but you're not going to project damage as well.
Luckily, the wolf is flexible and has many viable fits. |

Yes a kiting ship is a kiting ship but that doesent mean that it has to die if it gets caught. ACs at close range will still do its job.
If fitting arties u will have to stay at about 60-65% of falloff all while having zero tank, and zero dmg projection at close range. If fitting AC u will stay at about 70% falloff while having an ok tank AND sufficient tracking for close range. U will also have better dps on paper and I seriously doubt that dmg procection will be better for arties at any disrutor range. |

Artys are better, ac dps at range is pathetic and artys track perfectly at ,ore then 13km. Also dcu is a nice to have but no must have, it help vs other kiters but is useless vs brawlers, if your cought your not going to track anything, so a dcu wont help you. |

Fitting a 20km point and an MWD already hurts the wolfs less-than-great fitting. You can get insane number out of a wolf in autocannon fit, you trade literally everything for a solid alpha strike that cant even 1-shot an untanked fring... you can fit 3x TE's for 24km falloff with barrage on 200mm's. That in it'self makes it a decent 'sniper' within point range.
I have flown the arty wolf and i know its good. but i also know the AC wolf is a monster... |

Proms fit does about 1200-1400 alpha. You start firing at 30 odd km. it's preferred target is interceptors which it pops in 3 or 4 shots.
Its a niche fit which is hurt by having a DCU. Damage and tracking, in this case, equals tank. |

If you get 3-4 volley's off on an inty moving at 2k/s then you are flying against bad ceptors. |

I've been having some fun with this fit recently. I've been thinking about going t2 collision rig and a tracking rig to replace the aerator. Get a Zor's hyperlink to make yourself go a little faster and this thing is great. |

They need to swap the optimal and falloff bonuses on the Wolf and Jaguar. They also need to tweak the Wolf's fitting grid - a bit more CPU in exchange for some power perhaps.
The Arty Jag loses to an Arty Wolf on the damage curve both on the front and back end. It only pulls ahead in the middle a bit and it's a very small window. Three turrets can't compete with four. On the other hand the AC Jaguar has horrible damage projection. A falloff bonus would make the Jag fast and lethal with alot of options with four mids and four lows. It wouldn't be the most damaging AF but it would be the most versatile.
An AC Wolf has difficulty contilling range. An arty Wolf would benefit from an optimal bonus more then falloff. |

It's been said by people with substantial reputation for as long as I can remember. They addressed that issue specifically during the AF rebalance. I expect we'll see them finally swap it on the second pass.

The wolf is just better than the Jag regardless - the jag needs a 4th turret slot or a drone bay if it's going to be competitive with the wolf - maybe even a shield rep bonus. Yes, it can tackle better but it doesn't have enough DPS to fly it instead of a scram fitted wolf... or any other AF for that matter. |
