I got Thermodynamics at IV.
1) Now when I try to overheat a mid module, the surrounding modules get overheated too, even though I haven't clicked the "Overload Rack" icon
Is that normal? If so, whats the point of ccp giving us ability to overheat individual modules if the whole rack gets overheated anyway?
2) In this video you will notice the player overheats his ASBs just by clicking on them, without ever clicking any of the Overload icons, How does that happen?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL56RW72-6Q
Any advice appreciated. Evelopedia;-á

Surrounding modules don't get overheated and they don't generate heat. However, they do have a chance of taking heat damage. That's probably what you're seeing. But to be clear, they are NOT generating heat and are not acting as if they were overheated.

also as an added tip if you didnt read the whole overheating guide linked earlier .. you can arrange your module layout to disperse the heat emissions so that the rack is more balanced and therefore more efficient .. basically just try to space out the active modules u will be overheating in between passive modules for maximum emmision dispersion.
its covered in the arrangment section and is a good description of how to do it right for nooby chars that dont know about this stuff. if u load ur fits into EFT based on your character skills u can get the exact time as to how long u can overheat before burning out the module .... i try to go the maximum length -10 seconds or so i dont burn it out but get good overheat time in.
i always arrange my modules for maximum heat dispersion and overheat in every single fight i am in.
with 2 players duking it out with same ship, same fit and same skills ... he who overheats will always win. and with some nanite paste you can repair the heat damage after the fight even while warping around.
also if you know you are going to go down in a fight ... overheat everything and let it burn out the modules if possible to deny loot to the guys that blew u up =) |
