Just saying hi. Been reading for a few weeks. Finally downloaded the game (after I bought a computer that can handle the sick graphics). This is everything I wanted out of WoW but couldn't do. Larceny, deceit, survival by your wits, etc. I'm skilling up right now as I not gonna bring a knife to a gun fight, but it'll soon be time to start posting the killmails. I can't wait.
BTW - Any tips would be appreciated. |

Don't wait til you have skilled up, get out there now and get killed. As many times as you possibly can.
Its a good idea to get used to the losses while they are still effectively meaningless.

Tallian said it best. Get out there and cut your teeth the way it ought to be. You might even find yourself a decent pvp corp doing this as well. |

There's plenty of solo PvP to be had in lowsec (low security space) if you have patience and know the systems well. I am not saying you will always find a fair fight (you'll almost never find a fair fight), but if you're fighting fair, you're doing it wrong anyway.
I am learning the ropes myself as I moved to lowsec about a week ago with the same intent. So far, it's been a lot of fun (most fun I've had in years playing a videogame), and my reaction time and knowledge of the game have increased exponentially. You must know when/how to engage, choose your targets, your approach et cetera.
I wish you the best of luck. |

When you say pirate, most people in eve will take that to mean that you want to live in lowsec, killing the occational lost carebear but mostly engaging in consensual combat with other lowsec residents. Is that what you mean, or do you actually want to rob, extort and visit violence upon the unsuspecting? Founding member of the Belligerent Undesirables movement. |

I want to hold guppies ransom or blow them to bits. Maybe mix in a little corporate espionage if I feel it's worth it. For dessert we're offering humble pie. -áWould you like some after you're done eating crow? |

Then, in my humble opinion, highsec is where you need to be. Wardecs, infiltrations, suicide ganks and mission invasion are all excellent. For something you can do while fairly new and with minimal support check this link. Founding member of the Belligerent Undesirables movement. |

Hi! Welcome to the right side of the gun. As young ascending acolyte you may want to internalise this Guide. I wish you a lot of fun learning the ways of piracy!

Get a couple of buddies, you don't have to be many, Dec high sec corps after your choice, a good start would be 50-100 man corps.
Before you make a war dec, sit down and figure out how much of a ransom you'd like to leave them alone. one thing though, you wanna make the fee small enough so they'll pay, and you want to make it big enough so you'll get a profit of it.
Grab the bull by the balls if you wanna do high sec pirating, just remember always have above -2 sec standing... and hit them where it hurts!
Edit: i'd personally suggest Gallente or Amarr. Minmatar is kinda difficult to train for, and they're getting nerfed slightly, while Gallente and Amarr are getting a BC buff, which is probably what you're going to fly primary. |

/P Way too expensive for something that doesn't actually do anything. I'll think about it if they reduce the cost to ~$5. |

a long LONG time ago, i died to a pirate. I got angry (being a few months old and loosing my first assault frigate - a Jaguar)
So instead of whining i went into losec and blew things up with fraps turned on. Someone, somewhere recently uploaded it to YouTube (and although i was embarrassingly newbie at the time, it's nice to know some people saw the vid). I done pretty much exactly what you want to do. If you are a newbie you will generally find other newbies or people baiting you. This is the best way to learn as you will be able to ransom people and also learn to spot something that's too good to be true.
Here's the link: Birth of a Pirate
Things i had to do: -Learn to use my direction scanner. -Learn to stay moving to avoid damage -Learn to hate heavy missiles. (pre-nerf :) )
Any questions feel free to message me in game, as i have done mostly all kinds of PVP in eve - and it started with that video.
One rule: Always Honor a ransom. Next time you meet that person they will pay again, if you didn't honor the ransom they will tell you to go to hell and you just wasted ammo. |

Edit: If I ran for CSM my platform would be removal of jump drives, jump bridges and anything else containing the word 'jump'. I'd also try to get CCP to implement an eye patch that can only be purchased by using corpses as currency.
Maybe not in lowsec, but I make enough to allow me to lose expensive ships every once in a while up here in highsec. Founding member of the Belligerent Undesirables movement. |

Sometimes they stay docked, but sometimes you get awesome fights, sometimes they pay you to go away, or sometimes you contact them on an alt and offer to be mercs and take their money and laugh and laugh and laugh.

Your first steps should be betraying a corpmate by killing them in an expensive ship with their pants down. (Very noob friendly, just make sure you consult somebody experienced before doing this for epic lols.)
Then you post about it in the pirate story thread and make a name for yourself.
Whatever you do... Don't give in to the blob. ;) |

Once upon a time I decided to make a guy who would live solely off others via theft or killing/ransom and I managed to pull it off as a can crook. I began with just stealing the ore, then I moved to flipping. As time went by, I went from the standard rifter to a PvP-fit burst and my success rate went up 100% because nobody thought a mining frig (at the time) would ever fit a scram and guns.
While I didn't end up in T2 cruisers or BCs, I still kept going as a pirate in industrials/mining barges with pvp skills. I even had a pirate retriever before it was all said and done and killed another canflipper in a taranis with a double web-neut-scram 1600mm played scythe (pre logi).
Then came orebays and crimewatch and that particular chapter ended. Still, you can do just about anything you set your mind to in EVE if you have the drive to succeed and get good at it; it's the real reason why I play. |
