Sometimes you just have to learn how to read the tea leaves. Ignore the happy talk and PR - just look at what the DEVs do with their code.
For example: In 2012, CCP decided that they wanted more AFK mining, scripting, mass multiboxing and otherwise disengaged gameplay in EVE.
So they created the ultimate Lazy Boy Exhumer, made it fairly gank resistant, while buffing Concord and restricting gankers. Result? Mission accomplished! Solo player - multibox operations are multiplying, and bots are common. Ice prices are at all time lows. And miners (as a class) are as dumb as ever, fail fits even MORE common than I remember during HG V.
SO..... ...what did CCP intend for Crimewatch? For some, it is just a set of pretty icons and a new suspect flag. For me, it was a clear message - etched in stone.
CCP wants more -10 suicide alts.
Life in highsec was supposed to be made more difficult for suicide gankers, and it was..... ......but ONLY if you intend to suicide gank with your 'highsec' main, and rat the penalties away.
If 'Kill Rights' are not dealt with, it could be very hard for a would-be ganker to do typical highsec activities, such as flying freighters, mining or missions for their duration. In fact, the risk is so high - some would argue that you would be stupid to even attempt it. CCP intends for all casual 'criminals' to be incapable of participating in normal highsec activity for up to 30 days.
On the other hand, NONE of these penalties affect the ubiquitous -10 suicide alt.....
1. Killrights? Completely pointless, as they are already 'free' to engage, with or without Killrights. I notice my butthurt carebear victims still try to sell the worthless KR's to the public for ISK - in my judgement making them little better than a scammer, and deserving of the asskicking they got.
2. Increased sec status penalties for failed ganks if Crimewatch? Pfffft. -10 alt don't care!!! Doesn't matter if you fired and missed, fired and killed, or Smartbombed and podded a crowd. There is no endless ratting in your future. That particular hell is for someone less.....specilized. For you? Just a 15 minute GCC 'timeout' before you reboard and the carnage continues. Score!
3. Bounties = New Insurance for suicide gankers As I've stated before - suicide gankers' alts collect bounties - on themselves! Thus, Bounties are actually ADVANTAGEOUS for a -10 Alt. Simple as whoring your own killmail. Sure Concord did most of the work, but you reap the rewards. Best of all, THIS insurance has no premium. The carebears you GANKED paid it for you! So nice of them. I've collected 150M ISK of Whitehound's bounty cash - in just a few days.
What is the lesson?? Simple. CCP wants players to perform suicide ganking in highsec with dedicated -10 alts, NOT 'generalist' characters. Penalites were heaped upon one type of ganker, while life was actually improved for the other.
So, what are you waiting for? Who are you to deny the word of the Creator? Roll up that alt today and start training for Catalysts and Light Neutron Blaster IIs. Pronto. Adventure awaits. |

You are, of course, assuming I just now 'worked it out' and am just now posting about it. And that is incorrect.
Rather, I am commenting on the situation because I find it hilarious. And I am encouraging people to do what CCP is cleverly signaling for us to do.
Perhaps its a play to drive players to open more accounts? Would fit the pattern. |

AFK mining and running lvl 4s out of trade hubs may not be possible when you have transferable kill rights on you, but it hardly requires you to roll an alt. The tedium of grinding sec status makes people roll gank alts more than anything.
Losing killrights is easy; as carebears don't understand PvP in this game, most will put them up for low isk or even free, meaning you just let somebody pop you in a rookie ship and then it's back to business because they're gone after you lose a ship, any ship. I've had one for 100mil on me, which was kind of smart, but someone still activated that just to pop my destroyer.
I know a kill's a kill, but I'd have flagged myself to them for half that if they'd just asked. |

Ganking miners is what eve players do before they quit the game. Its a task for those that lack any talent, skill or drive to do anything other then grief the easiest targets in New Eden.
Nothing about ganking them takes skill at all. Killing 100 miners in highsec does not a pirate make. Real pirates don't give two ***** about warping in dessi to kill an untanked piece of rust. Its highsec, its like the third best space in eve.

Null comes last because 97% of the players I've met there are just plan stupid and/or **** at eve. Don't ask about Italics, just tilt your head. |

Nice. I wouldn't have thought of that. That is why you should put a proper price tag on a killright. All it then does is to force a pilot to fly cheap or to buy them off of you.
Selling a killright or just putting it up for sale is not going to kill anyone just like placing a bounty does not get anyone killed.

CCP should probably remove that, the fact that killrights can be "completed" by losing a free rookie ship by getting yourself blown up by your alt is a form of carebear-ism, just well.....from "pvp-ers". |
