Good day, fellow capsuleers.
Once again, I find myself in the position of being blind in the dark concerning matters of the galaxy, or more specifically, the Caldari State. Only recently have I taken to the stars, and only recently have I discovered that our leader, Tibus Heth, is taking a lot of flak for his leadership.
So, I would greatly appreciate it if any of my Caldari kin would fill me in on recent events concerning Heth and his management of the State. From what I've seen he has brought us nothing but success; the return of Caldari Prime to our territory (the planet being our sovereign, dare I say divine right) and also a return to the prideful ideals of old.
Please, explain to me how Heth has ruined our nation. I await your response.

That is a conversation best had in private, not on the IGS.
Unless of course, you're just looking to cause drama - in which case, this thread will surely provide. |

Suppose I'm aiming for a bit of both. While I'm genuinely looking for information as to why Heth ruined the State I wouldn't mind any debate that comes up as a result. |

I'm not a Caldari, but the debate seems to centre around Heth's reforms of what could be called the 'Corporate Elite' of Caldari society. Heth rose to power on the back of considerable support from the poor and lowest ranked sections of Caldari society and began a crusade against what he and his followrws see as a stagnant ruling elite which had failed to fulfill its duty in serving the people of the state.
Heth's reforms have crossed lines of corporate 'sovereignty' previously considered as near-sacred ground. The megacorps that previously ruled the State have found themselves giving ground Heth's Caladari Providence Directorate (the CPD) which removes power from the corporations and places it into the hands of Tibus Heth.
Is this man the peoples champion delivering needed reform, or a dictator siezing power? That is the question Caldari ask themselves. http://uglebsjournal.wordpress.com/

You are very wise, sir. Tibus Heth is both of these things. |

Your input is much appreciated, thank you. Although Heth may appear to be seizing power for himself, I now believe is it for a good cause; the megacorporations have squabbled for too long, and while I appreciate they were built on the values of hard work and dedication what the State needs now is a single figurehead to rally under and lead us forward to prosperity. |

There is also the question of who is doing the most harm to the State? The man who achieved some of the most outrageous feats in Caldari history - the return of Homeworld, rising above the Eight themselves and more - or the people who are quite outright attacking a rather pivotal part of the State? You can dislike Tibus Heth if you wish, you can even hate him even if I can't find a reasonable reason for that. What you can't do is deny the fact that like it or not, he's a part of the State that just can't be removed without leaving a sizable wound.
I don't like him. You could say I have a liberal streak and I just don't fit quite well in his camp at all. I am still not going to outright attack him nor his position this way, while the State is in turmoil and facing an enemy like the Federation. It is not my place to oust him and it certainly aren't any of your business either.
I am loyal to the State and whether you ingrates like it or not, that means taking the good with the bad and letting the right people do their jobs. If Tibus Heth needs to be removed, leave it to them. The Megas and their boards might be able to find a way to do so if warranted without harming the State in the process. None of you are in that position.
It is frankly wildly irresponsible to continue these attacks (yes, politics and propaganda are still attacks) on the State. I'd even go so far as to call it treason. If you're loyal to the State, do your jobs. Fight our enemies. Bring the profits that sustain our homes and our corporations. That will in turn give those near the peaks of power the time and means to deal with these issues properly and for the better of all Eight.
One'd think not one of you remember what Heiian means, and what part of the greater whole you play.
ETA: Should Heth be removed, the CPD changed or dismantled and the Megas set up some new way of things then that will be that and I might even breathe a sigh of relief. Just try, people. Try to sit back, drink your tea and think quietly and calmly for a while. Remember loyalty and your place. Captain Lieutenant Midshipman Ms Lady Dame Dudette Otsito the Third. Dyerron-haan,
Corporate infighting is not what led to the rise of Tibus Heth, in actuality, you could say it was the lack of infighting that led to his rise. Our nation has long prospered on intensive internal competition that sustained our State economically since our succession from the Federation. Corporate squabbles would have meant that they were actively competing against each other, that the economy was in motion which in turn would have meant that people were in turn being employed and toiling for a common purpose (under their corporation). These things would have actually lessened the chance of Heth's rise.
Prior to Heth and the war, our nation was in steeped in economic sluggery and depression. Workers toiled for a meager wage on many worlds, they were given protein paste for meals and were expected to work long hours in escalating unsafe working conditions while the super rich had lost sight of what it meant to be Caldari while living in obscene riches. The Megas have shown amazing aptitude to put their differences behind them when it came to external threats though, the accusation about squabbling being a factor is simply not accurate in the least.
Now as for Heth, while he may have been good for awhile, is no longer of use. There isn't a single political nor economic theorist who will tell you in good faith that war is the answer to economic hardship. It provides a boost in economic growth, but that will only last so long before we are back where we were once before and Heth has shown no aptitude for fixing the States greater issues other than putting a band-aid on it and pointing the finger at someone else. The issue remains that prosperity is far from reach under Heth, and the fact that he's now authorizing lethal force on the States own citizens proves that beyond a measurable doubt.

The best reason to oppose Heth is that you'll see me bake a cake and throw a party the day he gets killed.
