Out of all the ammo available - what do you consider the best? Anti matter for the damage, or something less powerfull but gives better range.

I personally use a combination of lead, uranium, and antimatter.

Uranium gets my vote. Can still get good dmg at 20-25k range with it.

Yup, Uranium. Still use AM for hunting space bunnies (only down to 12,000 rds!).

Actually my only arms mounted on My Vexor are 2 250mm railgun. Personally my first choice is AM, cause most of 20-30k pirates are harmless at 11km. Considering the optimal-range/falloff-range calculation, the second choice is Thorium, so that as the enemy goes to far to make decent damage (around 15/17km) with AM, i have to change ammo only once. Shortly, with AM+Thorium, i have covering fire from 5 to 25 km good to hunt from small frigates to 50k cruisers.
That's my NPC config..i fear that against human foes combat tactics change radically.

I use Uranium at the moment, with Thorium in my blasters. Although I only get around 60-70 hits using Uranium, and at most ever is 180, I'd like to know how you get hits of 300+!!!
Bogusheadbox, if you want very well researched BP copies of all the above mention ammo types, messages me in game.

I use AM on my 250 mm gauus, with some tracking computers my range is still 30k and i do between 80-100 dmg on a good hit.

Antimatter still my favorite with the 250 protos.
Skills + a module or two gives 22000+ range.
80-110 a hit with out any dmg module modifiers.

I am using 2x 250mm gauss rails and a medium anode neutron cannon. the cannon is what hits for 400 on occasion. 296 is most ive seen from my rails. and im using a insulated stabilizer as a damage mod
