Have CCP ever hinted at a reset of the entire EVE server (assets, skills, players, everything) for a fresh start? I think it'd make things much more fun, the current environment is very ossified and there is a small subset of players who are guaranteed to be on top no matter what by virtue of their enormous amount of skill points... I'm sure a vocal minority of players will find this idea absolutely appalling, due to belonging to the aforementioned group of players. |

If CCP had done the smart thing and made characters bound to the acct that created them, there would not be near as many high SP characters wandering around New Eden.
But a reset? I'm surprised this isn't at 6 pages already of people telling you how ******** you are.

Welp, the response to this idea turned out basically as I had predicted. E.v.e. Online is a videogame, and in videogames you often start over after winning (or in an open-ended videogame like E.v.e., upon achieving some level of cessation of meaningful progress) so you can enjoy a fresh path in a new playthrough. If players can't handle the prospect of this I hate to imagine how they'll deal with the inevitable real-life cessation of their biological functioning that destroys their memories/habits/instincts/etc. and thrusts them back into the world of Samsara in a new incarnation... |

Damn I hate admitting this with the OP being a goon and all...
... but this thread is solid gold. Love it. Good things are going to happen here I can sense it.
I fully support this idea and only wish we lived in a world in which it could happen. "....as if 10,058 Goon voices cried out and were suddenly silenced." |

Though we might all start spamming titans because, you know, always gotta have the head start on that.

The first 1-2 years of training is "fun" to do once, not something you want to do again just because some noobs are butthurt over arriving late to the party. If it happend ccp would see a massive drop in subscriptions, and i would probably be one of them.
If you want to experience the "fun" of starting over, delete your character and start a new one. |

He proposed all assets being removed as well, which don't just accumulate naturally over time in the same way as skill points does.
We have already played the game once, and that will most diffidently make a difference, scams and exploits to make isk are known and many will only works once. Others are just not possible, OTEC moon control, T2 BPO cartels, etc.
While a player who is successful today has a greater chance of being it after a reset, just as many will not be because what made them successful no longer exist or is only possible once. |

What would appear at first glance to level the playing field would not last long at all. The vets would know exatly what they wanted to do and skill accordingly whilst the newer players do what inexperanced people do when they don't really know what they want to do yet and train skills here there and everywhere. I belive the gap between vets and newer players would grow very quickly. Then what? re-set the server again? |

If you want to experience the "fun" of starting over, delete your character and start a new one. It was "fun" because you were a bright-eyed newbie. Sadly, the bittervet, even freed from his titan and the shackles of structure-based conflict, will still be bitter.
Also, I couldn't even ask you for your stuff... because it would have been "reset" away. Such a pity ! Those who cannot adapt become victims of Evolugalbugaslugakjlwsdhvbzxd Click for old school EVE Portraits: http://jadeconstantine.web44.net/Maison.htm |

Might set a record for the first time in human history that all players posted to the forums. At once. In different threads. I say do it. EVE Ambulation and Avatars as a separate game - see here |
