I just had a thought last night. Honestly this is mostly something that would benifit WH pilots but I think it would make a little sense. I tell my corp mates not to keep thier cap ships in the POS because frankly they just take up too much room leaving nowhere for everybody else to store ships. This isn't always possible however and leaving them floating in the POS shields sometimes leads to said cap ship getting bumped and occaisionally lost.
My idea is simple. Allow cap ships to be "anchored" and "locked" just like a secure cargo container. Same rules would apply to said capital ship. You can hack it open and unanchor it with the right skills. Timers for anchoring and unanchoring would still apply. Obviously not something you would want to do with a cap ship in combat. Anchoring said capital ship would make all modules unusable untill it is unanchored again.
This would allow capital ships to be "safely" stored within the POS shields without actually storing them IN the POS and without too much risk of them floating away and being lost, stolen or destroyed.
It might be brought up that storage space in POS's and the size of capital ships is part of the game balance but frankly I can hardly see how this would negatively effect the game in a game-breaking way.
Opinions, feedback and constructive ideas and criticism welcome. |

You can fit a single capital ship in one of those and they just take up a lot of CPU and PG. Unfortunately does not solve what I see as a problem. Although increasing the storage capacity of those would. Draculina Alucardi...3rd account canceled, no reason to hold an account for a SC pilot, if you can only use it in PVP ... thanks CCP :) |

Although increasing the storage capacity of those would. It takes no CPU, and a amarr large can online 20 of them at once. Yes, you'd want some defenses, but you can still put more then one on a tower and anchor more towers if it's not enough. If you're not willing to do that, you'll have to live with the problems you have now. |

Says who? You? I wasn't aware that a single pubbie made all the decisions for EvE.
Seriously though...there has to be someone else out there with an opinion. So far we have a no with no actual reason as to why. Any reasons as to why or if this would break the game or be an unreasonable request? I get your idea, but still fail as you CAN'T anchor stuff inside the shields, so the caps will all be anchored outside of the POS shields and thus vulnerable to attacks from range. J'Poll Director / Recruiter - Borealis Mining Concern Recruiter - Imperial Legi0n

Actually I have a few LSCC's anchored inside my POS as we speak. I did not anchor them but...there they be... Draculina Alucardi...3rd account canceled, no reason to hold an account for a SC pilot, if you can only use it in PVP ... thanks CCP :)-á Support the cause! Linky |

You could just make a parking spot BM for them 10-15km away from the main SMA/CHA cluster so there's no bumping. Since carriers also have an SMA, each carrier pilot could store their ships inside their carrier, giving them their own lil SMA and reducing traffic at the main SMA. Maybe not the expensive ships of course so you don't put all your eggs in one basket, but covops, cheap pvp etc. If they're far enough away from the main SMA/CHA, there shouldn't be any bumping/floating away. While this is true and I fully agree...the problem lies with glitches in EvE that cause our ships to "occaisionally" fly away or get kicked out of the POS when you log back in. They are infrequent but it only takes one time to really **** you off.
Another minor issue is this rather recent change to how the hangars work. If more than so many people (I think 2) are at the hangar then nobody else can open it. They just have to be near it to cause this problem...so we require our AFK players that are haning out in the POS (Because CCP won't put in a log off timer) to orbit the POS at some distance which often means bumping into a ship floating in the hangar at some point.
Obviously this doesn't bump the ship entirely out of the shields but you never know...it is EvE we are talking about after all.
Again...this option doesn't seem to be a game breaking request. To say just because you can store the ship in a hangar is stupidity. I wouldn't think this to be a very difficult feature to implement either.
