Pretty, but useless. I have already turned it off. Does anybody know what use it has besides drawing zic-zac lines on my screen?
I do like the fact that one can now optimize the current route without opening the map. However, it still cannot handle more than 10-11 waypoints. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

I think its that the lines point to the stars as they are in space, for me this made the whole traveling seem even larger than it already is.

The stars in EvE are not just a random pattern, they actually represent your star map.
For the moment actually having the route you are going to take is simply another visualization tool... interesting (and very helps with the immersion factor) but it does not claim to enhance functionality in any meaningful way. At this point it's really not intended to.
However the next step is to allow you to turn on star info overlays (if you wish) where you can hover over a star on your route and get info... perhaps even interact with it to a degree (remove from autopilot route, add to avoid systems, perhaps even hover to get access to all of those juicy details available through the map but just for the system you are hovering over). For new players especially I can see this being intuitive and engaging, giving even more strongly the impression of actually being in a living breathing high tech universe.
I'd be a little happier if that little line tracked back all the way to the gate you are going to be jumping out of, or even connecting all the way back to the gate you jumped in through. Heck, some people would probably like to see the route behind them as well (perhaps depicted with a different color line).
Still, no criticism from me for those that find it distracting. I'm just please that CCP provided the means to turn it on/off easily. It shows that CCP is coming to realize how important customization to taste is to our finicky generation of gamers... and that is a good thing. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

You mean when the wallpapers got changed? That "some time" isn't much time. And all it means is wasted manhours a few months back, as opposed to last month.

The one other thing I'd like to see is another line drawn from the first star in the route to the relevant stargate.

best three business days spen this release, except for the dev who changed the combat log so it doesnt clear during a session change. he/she is currently best dev. Ishtar Starfire: As a pure caldari pilot i feel that with the deployment of the new tier 3 battlecruisers you have given an unfair advantage to everyone except caldari pilots. an example would be like giving a fat kid a whole cake while the skinny kid has to watch and get nothing.

Were the in-space backgrounds generated or derived in some way from the 3D starmap itself? |

Not all the stars you see are part of the bitmaps. The stars of the Eve universe are overlaid on top of the bitmap. |

In some way they are, but the stars on the background have nothing to do with the nebulas.

Reminded of Star Trek, something like "Second star on the left and keep on till morning", that would be pretty cool.
Arguments on time spend aside it its still a really nice thing to add and makes the EvE universe seem even bigger, regardless of the three days spent
If you can do what John DaiSho mentioned in three days too I would consider them well spent |

I assume the closer ones then. As setting a very long auto-pilot route gives you a route that fades out and seems to disappear beyond the next-ish constellation, or roughly 12 or so jumps.
Very interesting. |
