hello all,
I would like to see all in-game ships be obtainable and flyable. How? Well lets make it interesting...for example:
- Salvaging a pirate frigate or any other vessel has the additional chance to drop a ship component - A pirate ship schematic would have the chance to drop from something related such as a rat structure can form a lowsec or ded plex. - Once a schematic is obtained and all the components put together an invetion job (chance based) would produce the limited run LOW material /time efficiency BP. All components consumed except schematic - Once BP is obtained a limited run of ships could be produced thus adding more cool ships (i.e. gisti rogue or even a serpentis crusier with stats somewhere between vexor and vexor navy issue and a cool new look for pilots.)
Heck!!! From a programing standpoint and the models and visuals are already done!!
I would like to hear your suggestions and comments on this feature. Together we can keep it alive and make it happen.

your issue is game balance
It took a while to balance the pirate ships in game. Its taken years to buff frig up to cruiser to have non pirate competitive. And a case can be made whatever balance is still needed at BS level as for those with the isk and the balls a few of them bad boys are real nice rides. I mean its hard to justify bringing the vargur to pvp but spam the **** out if in pve. Mach however...quite able in either realm really.
And with the much needed buffing to t1 and t2 frigsa and cruisers now making pirate versions arguably meh atm (not a whine, the buffs were needed in many cases...t1 cruisers have been the why bother ships for years) we can reasonably argue even current pirate ships need some loving again. These would need a rebalance before more pirate ships entered the mix imo.
You see ccp tried bringing in new ships rather fixing old ones. Dramiel for example. AF's were still in their umm why are you here phase of life. We asked to have this fixed. CCP said how about.....pirate frigates, yeah? enter the era of because of dramiel. It was what many deemed what an AF should be...and more. Too much more if you asked enough people. That took a while to settle down. And in the long run, ccp jsut put off the inevitable, they still had to fix AF's giving a missing bonus and for some weapons redo's (rockets and now lights for missiles, hybrid patch, etc...). |

Also, there's a whoooooooooooooooooooole bunch of programming and model testing required to "arm" one of these ships - the placement of turrets is a thing requiring much time and effort. As cool as it would be to simply "drop" these into the game, the actual back-end implementation of it would need a ton of work.
I've no doubt it is in the pipeline, but there will always be more important and pressing matters to attend to, i fear!
As a complete counter to my above point, having some of these ships put into the game with precisely the same stats as another ship, would be a cheap n' dirty way of shoehorning these ships into EVE - it'd mean a nice way to "bling up" and encourage pirate-chic, something sorely missing from the game.
Keep posting your ideas! o7 |

Let's just add EoM ships to the game and call it a day. Shield-tanking, hybrid-firing amarr hulls with very-classy paintjobs and a nice wing logo. Those ships are just too nice since the reskin - leaving them doomed to a life of obscure existence only as mission rats is an utter travesty. |

Your "balance" issue can be solved by copy & pasting stats. Nothing wrong with more than one ships having very similar stats and different skin, to fit into the same role. Ships don't have to be unique in function. Pretty skin is fine. Most cars irl have little difference in function, just in different sheetmetals, and people pay big money for the looks alone. Besides, internet spaceships aren't serious business.
The idea that all new content has to be drastically outside the box and unique is what got us PI and WIS, as opposed to new internet spaceship content over the past few years. All niches have been filled. It's either no new spaceship content or abandon the silly "one ship per niche" concept.
