McGrath's back
Lee's fit, so we're facing the best the Oz can field again. Looks like a good batting surface, though ... England are batting first. Let's see what happens

Yeah, looks it.
Bad news is Strauss is gone, and Vaughan is likely soon to go.
Good news is that I've acquired tickets for Sunday.

195-2 at tea. Vaughan in the 90s ... we're looking set fair. It was definitely a good toss to win .. don't let Glennda have any more rest days than absolutely necessary

Have to agree with Monty, as much as it pains me to say it: congratulations to Shane Warne on becoming the frist man to take 600 test match wickets. You're still pie muncher though Warney

Vaughan is starting to look like the batsman of old, when he opened in India and Australia... this could be a very, very good innings for us.
And if he's still there to anchor when Pietersen and Flintoff cut loose at the other end ...

I think that would be amazing and tbh, imo is out of our reach. *Maybe* 450?
We shall soon see though and I hope your right!

A good score, in any event. And it looks like the Oz are missing a batsman, which makes our job rather easier. He certainly can't bat today, because he's not even here.

I think the commentator just put it superbly. Vaughan may well have to decide to force the follow on or not ... what a decision to have to decide from.... against the World Champions!

It appears that u guys have taken a look at English cricket history and thought .... "hmmm ... thats a good idea! Means we can get to the bar quicker" and collapsed.
The question on every English cricket fans lips at the moment is: To invite the follow on or not?
BUT we all know that the Auzzie's are the cricket gods so before we count those chickens, lets see the second innings. Darwin 4tw

Putting them in again could seriously backfire: if they knock up 450 in the second innings, we're faced with chasing the thick end of three hundred, with Shane Warne bowling all through day 5. That would NOT be fun.
Probably wiser to send Strauss and Flintoff in to open, and try to bash 300 runs to put the game beyond their reach: it risks letting them off with a draw, but at least they can't beat us that way.

No we don't want to follow on, we could end up chasing runs on a really nasty wicket.
What the guy above said, put a few more runs on the card ourselves then let the aussies deal with a run chase on the worn out surface
I think the commentator on test match special was right tho, bringing McGrath in again so early was a mistake, he looks really sore, and isn't bowling anywhere near his best.
At least we did well out of the dropped catches this time.

Well, I had a fantastic day at Old Trafford today.
The highlights have to be Strauss' century and Bell's fifty. GoJo played a nice cameo at the end.
But, ironically applauding Jason Gillespie 4TW

So.
We're in rainy rainy Old Trafford needing to take 10 Australian wockets before they make 423 or before the end of days play.
I'm seeing a flukey draw.

The draw has to be odds-on .. but, this is Flintoff's home ground. I just wonder what he might conjure up.
And ofc if there's no rain tomorrow, a draw is odds against. If Australia have to bat all day, they'll make the runs, unless they run out of wickets first.
