It would be nice to see the NPCs use dynamic trageting, as adversed to the current system of stasying with the first target it sees untill destruction.
It would be nice, and more challenging, to have a NPC see a new threst and change its targeting accordingly.
This could justify hight bounties again.
Dont know jack about how it would be done or the effects on programming / lag. Just an Idea to make the game more fun for those times when PVP is not an option for the moment. =========================

Negative. There is no way to hunt BS spawns with a raven. The only way for ravens to kill smaller targets is with drones since missiles do crap damage to anything and everything bellow a BS.

Rats already do so and its a pain in the ass for those who use drone ships.
Mission rats that is, never seen belt rats do it. ------------------

Apparently belt inties do, since there were a bunch of posts before complaining about it, but I've never noticed such a problem. --------------

I think it's just a change in the overview display, not NPC behaviour. Sometimes stuff are red on the scanner and not firing. Once a rat start firing at you it will never switch target, I found that overview was no longer reliable to decide wether you really aggroed a rat or not since CWE, you have to wait for them to be close to their optimal.

That is exactly what it is i beleive.
At the present time I do not think pirates actively unlock and relock on a new, more threatening target. =========================

would get the drone users up in arms if the drones keep getting turned on and destroyed

I'm assuming your meaning more dynamic than just rats shoot player, player deployes drones, rats shoot drones. If thats the case then I vote nay since it'll make hunting in drone ships so much more of a pain in the arse.
If you mean; if a player was in a group of say a bs and 4 crusers, and rats now targatted dynamically so cruser rats went for crusers, bs rats started on the bs's, remote tankers got targatted in preferance, and rats would switch targets depending on factors like transverial vs. gun type, optimal range and player tanking, then I vote a very very big yay
Would make missions and chaining so much harder, but a lot more fun I think

Edited by: Kaell Meynn on 15/08/2005 20:41:37 I've seen rats shoot at one player (the only person at belt other than me) for 2 minutes, then when someone else warped in, they switched targets. We had someone else come in to tank them, and when he was tanking them in exact same situation, they did NOT switch targets when another person came into belt. So some people they 'like' and some they don't.
I've seen close range rats come in and shoot me from 1.5km, then dart back out to attack my drones that are attacking a cruiser 40km away.
It seems they already do exactly what you are asking for, just, rarely, and only with certain people. I'm not sure what 'causes' it to happen or not happen, but it does happen. Maybe it goes by faction standing? Just a guess because it varies by person wether they will switch off of targeting you or not. I don't know, I only know I've seen them switch targets.

Mission rats do now switch targets i've flown wingman on anti frig work in misisons and been targetted and fired apon. This was after they had started shooting the raven but it was when i closed in close to them so it may have something to do with range.
