This toon is a marketeer trained for station trading, research, manufacturing and reprocessing. I should very much like to get into a freighter, but it's not straight forward as I trained this toon on an alt account and sent it back to my main Skill Queue Online account when her skills were in place for what I needed her to do. Now I want to pilot a freighter, but I will under no circumstances stop my Skill Queue Online toon - so I need to create a new account and transfer this toon. I'm hoping to "complete" the freighter related skills in ~51 days. But I don't even know if that's possible at all. Is it? And here's another problem:
I just heard that there will be a skill change for freighter pilots this summer. I'm in an awful remap for training freighter related skills (full charisma and the rest in memory). I've spend all my bonus remaps, because I got new ideas after my initial idea with this toon - and that took away my bonus remaps. I will get my yearly remap april the 15th however, but I'm not really sure I'll have enough time to get into the freighter before the changes take place. I don't really wanna gamble.
With my current remap and +3 implants I'm 33d 5h 22m 36s away from sitting in the obelisk - my choise. But I'll have no support skills whatsoever.
I don't like to gamble, but should I wait with transfering this toon to a new account when I have my remap available? With a Perception/Willpower remap that ~33 days will go down alot. But what about support skills?
What do I need to do? What would you guys do in my situation? Which support skills do I need?
Info about my freighter plans: High sec logistics of manufactored thingies only. Having huge cargo hold capacity isn't crucial so I think rank 1 freighter will suffice. Another option I'm thinking about is to wait with transfering this toon until I can remap and go for a remap designed for piloting an Orca. I think the cargo holds will suffice nicely - and it's cheaper than a freighter. well as far as support skills go your going to want to new pre-reqs anyway Advanced Spaceship Command V will help your freighter align faster which is huge, also get Evasive Manuevering V again for align time and Mechanic V for extra EHP, I'm sure there are others if I really delved into it but those are the ones off the top of my head. better yet look here http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Freighter_101 |

And of course the freighter skill itself for more cargo space and speed. But that's about it for a pure freighter pilot. Getting them all to level five shouldn't take that long since they are mostly rank 1, 2, or 3. Malcanis for CSM 8 Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene V - Moon 4 - Duvolle Labs Factory. I'll wait for my remap then since I need Advanced Spaceship Command 5 anyways! "Do not attempt to live without vanity, since this is impossible, but choose the right audience from which to seek admiration." - Bertrand Russell |

You don't as of yet need ASC V for getting the freighter book but it will make multispecing freighters so useful. |

I would start a new account through the buddy system. And train a freighter pilot from scratch. Why waste $10 transferring the character to another account then another $10 transferring it back.
With the buddy system you can get an extended 21 day trial, then buy a PLEx and use it to activate the new account right away. You will get the 21 days from the trial plus 30 days from activation. And activating the account will mean you will not suffer from not being able to train the skills not available to trial accounts.
You used to be able to use a PLEX to activate and get a PLEX as reward on the account that sent the invitation. Now you can not, but I believe you still get a game time credit. I believe now you can either pay the sub and get a PLEX reward on the main account, OR use a PLEX to activate the buddy account and get 30 days game time added to the main account. either way you basically get 51 days training on a fully subbed account for free. Doing this to farm gifts such as at X-mas time, or to create grieving alts is considered an exploit and is not allowed.
There is also the option of using the create a sidekick offer that is currently available in which you get 90 days game time for only $24.95, less than half price of a normal subscription.
I personally have used both these methods for producing alt account with the intention of transferring the newly training alt at the end of the subscription cycle. However on both occasions I got so used to having the extra accounts and the utility it provides that I ended up keeping them active. I now have had 4 active accounts for over a year.
the thing is the potential isk income you get from multiple accounts makes it very easy to buy PLEX to sustain at least some of your alts. I generally pay for my fourth account with PLEX while paying the other three with rolling 3 month subs. 1 39.95 payment each month. This makes managing 3 acco8unts very easy. At having 4 accounts, buying a PLEX to keep the fourth account running is not hard to maintain. My 4 account fleet whether mission running, ratting or mining can make at least 100M per hour. That is only 5-6 hours a month to take care of the PLEX and I play at least 10-15 hours a week. If I played more I could easily run all 4 accounts on PLEX, but having a full time job and two pre school kids takes a lot of my time. |

That seems like an interesting idea as this toon have trained like no freighter related skills. It just seemed more convinient to have my marketeer be able to fly a freighter. Avoiding constant contracting and such. I'll save 2 x PLEX as I just need to transfer the freighter toon once. And I'll get bonus remaps.
However, It's not critical for me to save 2 x PLEX. Sure it's nice and all that jazz, but I'm the kinda person who value convinience rather high - 2 x PLEX seems like a small price for convinience the rest of my Eve career.
I'll give this some thinking. Thanks for giving me another option
Also, I'll have to consider whether or not I'll use my third account slot for a freighter toon. As of now I have no plans for other alts on this account, but that may change along the road. Edit: Added used attributes in square brackets [primary, secondary]. Also; You really really want those agility skills at level 5, all of them. Really. Excellent and well organized information. Unfortunately in this day and age of Eve it's all pointless as even last month (April) there were at least a dozen Freighters insta popped. Yes you heard that right, insta popped. The worst one was carrying over 11 bil (idiot) and had over 100 ships involved in a 1.0 system (not a WT), i.e. they get 1 volley off before Concord shows up (especially for all the Nados they used).
Be cautious and don't carry much (yup kinda pointless to have all that hold when you can't even fill it).

a pvp ship, Dreads / titan the bs skill go from 5 to 3 but for a freighter it go to 5 from 1 ! The Industrial ship requirement for Freighters goes down from 5 to 3 as well. If you want to use Freighters of multiple races, it will be much less training time then before. If you want to train for one race's Freighter only, you switch Advanced Spaceship Command 5 for Industrial 5, what is not that much difference in training time. "Our lives are not our own.
