Hi all,
How do I work out how much ore quantity I'll get per cycle based on the ore I'm mining?
Veldspar seems easy at is seems to just be 10 times the amount of m3 but other ores seem to be different.
My current skill set using Strip Miner I = 1626m3 per cycle of 180s per Strip Miner giving me 3252m3 per cycle in total (I'm mining in a Mack).
So using Veldspar it would equal 32520 units of Velspar per cycle.
How do I work it out for say Scordite, Pyroxeres, Plagioclase, etc...?
Thanks. |

Veld 0.1 Scor 0.15 Plag 0.35 Pyro 0.3 etc etc
Mining amount / volume = Amount of ore

Just to clarify the mining amount would be the m3 and the volume would be the 0.1 etc?
So for example say I have a full Mack load of 35000 I would have an equation like this:
35000 / 0.1 = 350000 units Veldspar 35000 / 0.3 = 166666 units Pyroxeres
Actually that does seem to workout. I just need a list of these ores now which I can get from the Wiki page I think.
Thanks for your help. |

If you right click on the asteroid or ore market listing, the See Info screen will give you the volume of a single unit. You can use that to figure units / m3. |

I wish they would put volume on the survey scan results... Mining Overhaul Nothing changed since 2008. |

I've put together a free little app for iOS users that calculates the ISK/m3 for all ores. It may save you some time with those calculations: http//bit.ly/iskm3 |

Thanks. show info on the ore will tell you the volume. To get the number you are looking for try 1/(ore volume)=units per m3 for example;
veldspar is 0.1m3 per unit or 10 units per m3 ( 1/0.1=10 )
Scordite is 0.15m3 per unit or 6.6 units per m3 ( 1/0.15=6.666...)
Omber is 0.6m3 per unit or 1.6 units per m3 ( 1/0.6=1.666...)
while the largest ore in the game I believe is Spodumain at 16m3 per unit or 0.06 units per m3 ( 1/16=0.0625 )
It makes things much easier to keep track of income if you calculate your m3/min rather than just using your raw yield per 180 seconds.
Since 180 seconds is 3 minutes your m3/min would be 3252/3=1084m3/min
then go to a site like Cerlestes.de ans set up a profile. you can then set the m3 to your m3/min or m3/hr (1084*60=65040m3)to see how much you can make per hour. Cerlestes.de bases value on mineral price in Jita after refining. once you set up a profile you can set your refining % and it is very accurate. If you can only refine at 97.5% and the we take is 2% put in a value of 95.5% and it will tell you how much the mineral value of the set m3 of ore is worth with your refining skills you put in.
To put things in perspective even with your exact fit and skills if you had a maxed orca boost you would not only get a 10% yield boost but cycle times would be cut down to 120 seconds. so that would make your yield per minute (3252+10%)/2=1788m3/min or 1788*60=107280m3 per hour compared to your 65040m3 per hour without boosts. A max skilled HULK with max boosts can pull in 2700m3/min add a full flight of maxed mining drone II and you are over 3000m3/min. This is where the 30-40M/hr numbers you see from other miners comes from. Personally I make about 25M per hour per account or 100M/hr total with 3 HULK's and an OCRA not quite maxed out.
With your skills and yield your max income without boosts would only be 10-12m/hr and that would require perfect refining skills. If you were to get into a corp that could provide you will a maxed ORCA boost even with your skills and fit as they are you should pull in about 20M/hr. |

If they included ore volumes, and if they put their results into the Overview window, or otherwise put them into the space view, instead of only in their own little window, I'd use them a lot more.
(It'd also be nice to be able to limit the Survey Scanner range to less than its maximum, e.g. if I'm in an unbonused Barge or Exhumer, I might want to see results only from asteroids within 15 km, even though a T2 scanner can reach 22.5 km.)

That really doesn't make any sense at all. Scanning further than your max range doesn't mean you have to mine the asteroids out of your range. you wouldn't shoot at something out of range would you?
And are you aware there's a notepad in game? just have a list and the respective volumes of ore corresponding to ore type and units of ore for your lasers. |

I've found all the information for what I need.
Basically I'm building a spreadsheet for mining operations for myself taking a BP working out how much is required how much minerals I can get from mining, how much quantity from rocks in the belt I'm in, etc.
I know Dedaf has this awesome spreadsheet for this but he's used Excel and I don't. Converting to Numbers breaks the scripting and even if I used the Mac version of Excel I lose a lot of the functionality built into his spreadsheet so for now I'm doing it old school. :-)
Thanks for all the info though. I do appreciate this community's help a lot. |

Why not try Google Docs? it usually parses Excel formulae without a problem ISKm3 - Free iPhone app for miners, traders, and haulers. Grab it here: http://bit.ly/iskm3 |

Because Dedaf uses a number of Visual Basic scripts that don't translate well. :-) |
