Why yes I did Fatty. This is because their color pattern is created by random sequencing between both of their two X chromosomes. Even with perfect cloning technology, you could not create a perfect clone of a tortoiseshell cat. |

Rocket RonnieRayGunn;
Hello and welcome to the Intergalactic Summit. My name is sky captain Lyris Chronicles of Narnia in the World of Tomorrow's Goonfleet dot NET, and I am here today to defend myself and my brethren from your slanderous accusations of misconduct. I will have you know that in the entire history of the Right-Honourable Goonswarm Federation of Space Planets there has not been a single confirmed greivance against us which could not be settled through the traditional means of gunship diplomacy. If the powers you represent as a mindless clone-jack feel themselves so offended by the policies and provisions set forth by Dear Leader, then let that entity bark for itself rather than from behind the facade of an anonymous automoton. If you've the courage to match your convictions, then I am certain we can read an amicable accord; otherwise, perhaps you would do well to remove yourself from the stage before the spotlight causes your make up to run.

My cat is an average european shorthair. It's killing a rat a day, sometimes a rat and a mouse. I always wondered, if the bird a week she kills is compensated by the killed rats. Because everybody knows that rats are the main enemy of the singing bird population.
So if a cat kills rats on a regular basis it prevents egg-killing by the overpopulation of rats and saves in effect a lot of birds lives, or not? So is that in effect a bit like positive security standing that allows you a little hisec-gank from time to time?
Or is she a mean little kitten? I mean she's quite small. What about the marten she killed last spring? What compensates that for? It clearly shows she's Minmatar, cause that's the spirit.
By the way I've heard that people teach their cats a lot of silly stuff. But I taught her to bring in her prey into the bathtub so first of all when it's alive it's not running around in my apartment. Second the funny little paintings she uses to create with the blood and the organs of the little animals are really easy to clean up in the bathtub. In her early days she tried to do this on the carpetGǪ
Isn't she the nicest kitty around? Sooo cuuuute! Pure Minmatar kitten. FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

Finally, a thread on IGS that I feel comfortable getting involved in! It's about time. More like this please.
I have two cats that I let loose inside vessels currently while docked or on peaceful missions (can't have them being primaried now), this is to keep to vermin population down. They're both black. Although they're just as cute and practical, I don't like tortoiseshell cats because my eyesight is poor and I might confuse their unusual colouring for some kind of spaceborne infection and airlock them by mistake.
Recently the smaller of my cats started peeing blood. I got a veterinary consultant to take a look, and the problem was traced to diet, so I'm going to share you some of my cat diet tips.
There's a lot of things you should be mindful of when feeding your cat. Firstly, cats shouldn't ever eat fish, after all cats don't pull fish out of rivers in their natural environment, and as a result their bodies aren't built to process this kind of food, feeding fish to cats will lead to health problems later in life. So why does all the commercial cat food have fish in it? Because it's cheap, and people buy it. Same reason why people sell junk food to humans, and junk food is everywhere, doesn't mean it's good for you. Cats also shouldn't eat very lean meats - the little cuties require a certain amount of fat content in their protein or it can really mess with their health. Also, commercial cat food comes with a lot of additives which are bad for cats - certain types of gelling and anti-caking agents and also excess vegetable matter used as filler. There's lots of very bad stuff in that food, and unlike food for humans the regulations are a lot looser when it comes to correctly labelling the contents. Dry food should also be completely off the list - the chewing is good for their teeth but it leads to crystals in the urine and it's generally bad news (cat biscuits and the like are really more about human convenience than what's good for the pet), however wet food causes dental problems - so what to do?
The ideal food for cats, is, funnily enough - the mouse. That's right, nature knew the score all along. A mouse combines high protien, a little fat, some occasional vegetable matter (whatever was in the mouse's stomach when it died) and some crunchy bones which help with the dental issues. Of course, it's hard to get mice pre-killed for cat consumption and most people aren't lucky/unlucky enough to come from Ryddinjorn like I do and don't want to move to a rodent infested areas for the sake of their cat's diet (understandable). A good quality feed store however should be able to sell you minced meat with a little bone in it which simulates fairly closely what a cat would eat in a natural environment. Serve at body temperature, and don't forget to mix it up a little between beef and poultry varieties because you too would get bored from eating the same **** all the time.
You're welcome. |

Yeah, the wonderful world of cats. When I hear that mice are the best possible diet for cats, I can tell ya, my cat sees this different. First of all she finds a lot of vermin on my ships, my crew is combat-ready and gung-ho but not especially cleaning up and disciplined. I guess I already told you that they were ignoring me most of the time until I got them some juicy Amarr kills.
But still I don't exactly feel like a captain to them. More like the goo-girl that is part of the commanding-module of the ship and that should not be broken, like an important part of the ship like the life-support.
But back to the cat. Every time she's munching a mouse in my bathtub, I find the same a few hours later cleanly vomited out on the one or other expensive part of my furniture. The more expensive the more likely she uses it to vomit on it. While I found a way to teach her to kill at certain places or use the cat-litter (she never botched that one even as a kitty), I think I can't teach her where to vomit.
So she quite frankly puts out these halve digested fur-things with some goo from her stomach onto those things I like best. Like the favorite boots, like some soft cushions where I love to lolling my shoulders when I read a datapad on my couch, which I love to do with a small cozy nuclear fire on my fireplace, some candles and a glass of spiced wine, only wrapped in my bathrobe.
Which has risen the factor for new cushions to a major level for ship equipment, just a bit below Fusion ammunition and enriched uranium. And vodka, which I need to keep my crew satisfied, for I stopped drinking it quite a while ago. Just about the time when people said, that I was going to be "boring" at parties and stopped shredding bars.
Well while mice are a minor problem on my ships, rats are more common indeed. And with rats there come some interesting subleaser for the cat. Rats tend to have flee. And when the rats die the flea look for a new host. That is either me or better the cat if it's available. That's the reason why I keep the cat around as much as I can when she again killed something in her specific unspeakable way in the bathtub.
After the cat is infested with flea she begins to clean herself. You can really not put her under poison for the whole time, you have to wait poisoning her with anti-flea medical treatment for at least some weeks. Which leaves enough time for the fleas for reproduction and also for her to lick them from her fur and ingest them.
Flea are the carriers for worms. Which is the way may cute little kitten gets those on a regular basis. So I can say that my cat mainly is living from flea, from anti-flea medical treatment and from anti-worm paste, which I put on her fur so she has to lick it from there. She really does not take medication well, in fact even my vet is unable to place a pill in her mouth without her faking to swallow it and then spitting it at least a few meters through the room afterwards.
Fun part of all this is that she has to much to do about hunting vermin, killing them on lengths in my bathtub (longest session was about halve an hour), making funny noises doing that (forget about sleep) and vomiting them out afterwards at unexpected places (like into your slippers that you placed in front of the bed), that she's not shredding my furniture.
She's really too busy for that lazy stuff.
Of cause she's well-behaving at my home, but her gypsy manners lets her stroll around everywhere and cook and kitchen see in her a sort of wrath. She's surprisingly never stealing at home. But everywhere else she is. Definitely. And she's fast and cunning enough in doing that that she survived until now.
Oh, and she doesn't like other cats. She perfectly made it clear when an other cat showed up on board. We hardly got that other cat out alive.
Has anybody experience with hot uranium cores if the radioactivity will kill flea?
And by the way how big are your cats? My kitten is about nearly one meter long without her bushy tail, has cute fluffy ears and weights about five kilograms I guess. I can only guess, because she really dislikes if I try to take her and put on the scale and I learned not to force her into things she dislikes. Else you end up in the Bathtub. Alas it seems that all of the State War Academies I traveled to seemed to be out of stock on both that book as well as the one covering the neccessary T2 invention for what is essentially gender re-assignment for felines. |
