I would really love to see the stock market option finally getting implimented into the game. I already see the possibility for some ways to add stocks to the game and I was wondering when it would finally be finished. I was just wondering if there was some advanced problem it.
If there are some issues on finding out how to impliment this option you should try playing the game Railroad Tycoon 2 that game had THE greatest stock market i've ever used in a game. So if none of you have played RR tycoon 2 it would be a great game to try out and see how they put stocks into the game because that game rocked it.

One of the main issues with stock is the question of what you own, and what you're getting for it. Who evaluates the value of a corporation? Their 'value' essentially the total value of their capital (equipment and blueprints) plus some vaporous qualification of their potential to make money.
Why would I own stock in a company unless I get paid dividends? How do we settle what dividends are paid to stock-holders?
I think this will be approachable once formal contracts are in-game, because there will at least be a mechanism for paying dividends to stockholders.

I can see what your saying about the mechanism. But basically whatever you put into a corprate hanger can be calculated automatically as the companies capital. Also when you talk about dividends. Most real world companies dont even have dividends anymore. So its entirely up to the company whether they want to pay out dividends or not.

I imagine that a corp should be evaluated by what it have in money and assets. Understand assets as ships and items, and also money and assets both available or allocated in the market.
If on corp have about 500 mil at 1st september and after some analysis I see that in 1st october there is the possibility that the same corp will be evaluated at 650 mil than it is a 30% increase, soo I buy it in hope to earn 30% profit in the end of the month.
Not complex at all.
Off course that we would need better tools like graphs and some basic indicators.
The value of the corp would be automatically computerized once a day or if this is too much data for CCP once a week.
Imagine for example that I have a hint that X corp will deploy a POS wich will bring a lot of money to the corp if well keept. Then I should run to buy their paper because there is very good chance their value will rise very much.
For instance If I know Y corp is about to make a major offensive again Z corp and I know Z corp have a special trick that will make Y corp loose the war and if I have paper from Y corp than I know I should sell it in a hurry.
And soo on... I am sure this will bring a very deep details to the game that imerse ourselves even more.
Just my opinion Onahtop

problem here is, if you can see what a corp is worth, then some pirates will declare war on the corp's that are worth alot.
Some of the small corps that have got lucky in the tehc 2 lottery are rich, but they are not powerful.

That is just how things work in real life...lots of choices.... If you want money injection you need to open it then your corp maybe vunerable from market volatility. If you choose to keep control and things quiet you should not open you corp to the market at all. By the way what could happen if a lot of people be it good or bad have paper from that corp being attacked by the pirates? If I had papers from that corp and I feel threatened to lose my wealth then I can sell it or help kill the threat... Stock Market will sure make things even more interesting on EVE because it will cause a lot of action and after action there is always reaction.

Almost everything in eve will eventualy be owned by monolithic holding companies (just like in real life) if you impliment publically traded corporation shares.
Which isnt such a horrible thing.. but its not the stock market you guys seem to be expecting..
You can impliment privately traded stocks in your company. This is infact how many high-end tech2 BPO deals seem to be implimented, tho not under a corporate banner.
Requires a good deal of trust in the manager of the shares.
