I've been running level 3 missions for a bit, and almost without fail, destroying Cargo rigs, landing pads, and storage facilities I find in dead space net's me exactly nothing. Now, call me old fashioned, but I always thought that these type of structures would actually be used for, well.. storage.
Is there any point at all to these structures, or are they just there for decotation?

i used to destroy m too, in lvl 4 extravaganza's i killed the stations at the end of lvl 5 (not the 6th yet :P) and that yields a good 5k of loot (trade crap and drones though) the buildings you refer to sometimes drop stuff, but mostly trade goods

Edited by: Shirer Aprenon on 07/09/2005 09:48:41 Sometimes they'll drop stuff - mostly trade goods or ammo.
Shoot buildings identified as "overseer" constructions and you'll be in line for a skill implant. But not always.
Use drones to help kill structures - cheaper in the long run.
edit - speeling

Some are decoration, some drop some quite cool stuff. It's working out which are which that's the problem...

I blew up the battlestation in the bonus level of L3 angel extravaganza (which btw is totally not worth it). it took half an hour, I crashed when it blew up, and when I logged back in I found the can only had some missiles and one of those useless named cargo expanders that's worse than expanded cargohold I.
the only structures I ever got good loot from are the ones labeled as deadspace overseer structure. "large collidable structure" either drops ammo or nothing.

In my experience there are a few buildings which do drop loot, but they're few and far between.
I believe they are always the same structures in the same missions though - if you've blown something up in a mission and it gives you nothing, it will always give you nothing for that particular mission.
Structures which do drop loot seem to drop it consistently for a given mission, so it's a matter of finding out which ones they are, destroying them, and ignoring everything else.

From my expericance but I havn't checked since the last patch is that yes if you are distroying structures for loot it is generally not worth the Ammo if you have drone than use them. However if you are attacking he structures to increase/decrease standing than it can be quite affective. I get nothing out of attacking many buildings but I have that I have -9 faction standing with angles and Ammar. Distroying buildings of named factions in the past has given me -1 standings for that factions and +1 standings with Concord when distroying Pirate structures.

Also, for example, in warehouse raid missions all the buildings drop commods or ammo. In Silence the Informant, one of the buildings in the final level always seems to drop a hardwiring. Stuff like that is good to remember.

informant lvl 3 never drops a hardwire for me :( always some skillbook, some slaves/marines/refugees/ect, maybe some Tech (ammo/shield/ect)
I usually tend to blow everything else up, then go get my vexor and drone the buildings to death maybe chuck a few shots from the 200mm rails with the ammo I collected from other missions |

Edited by: Drahcir Nasom on 10/09/2005 07:22:56 How about we compile a list of which buildings are worth attacking?
I'll start with what I can remember (these are all level 3 missions)
Silence The Informant Pleasure Hub on last stage has skill books/ammo/RAMs/Alloys/People
Angel Extravaganza Casino on stage 3 has people/trade goods Solar Harvester on stage 4 has 2 lots of trade goods Storage Silo on stage 5 has Hardwire implant and miscellaneous loot.
Seek & Destroy (Angel version) Radiating Telescope has mining crystals and other miscellaneous loot.

Silo/warehouse/cargo rig/hab module in Secret Stash or whatever it's called all drop stuff; warehouse and rig drop trade goods, other two tend to drop all kinds of ammo incl missiles from defender to cruise/torp.

There is some randomness in structure loot dropping. In lvl3 Duo Of Death (which I have done too many times now) the bunker has dropped a loot can exactly twice. Every other time it has dropped nothing. Also in Angel Extraviganza in the second area there are two structures, casino and habitat(?), the casino always drops, the habitat only rarely.

Due of death Level 3 there is a power generator in the center of the wall, this always drops stuff (mostly not of any worth but still).
Angel Extravaganza level 5, Angel storage drops hardwire implant.

in my experience, ya get trade goods from blowing up the structures in the "hidden stash" mission. and the mobile residence in "silence the informant" ya occasionally get a hardwire or 2 and some random gear.

In lvl 3 Angel Extravangza the Angel Harvester drops loot, as does silo, bunker, armory, habitat.
