What we heard about Mens Repola negotiating with the Gallente to make Caldari prime a demilitarized zone turns out to be true, as Six of the eight megacorporations have come to an agreement with the Gallente Federation to have all the soldiers on both sides removed from the planet. Unsurprisingly, Tibus Heth does not support this measure, but he's been overruled by the rest of the CEP sans Lai Dai.
I am pleased with this turn of events; there has been enough blood shed over Caldari Prime, and it is good to see that the Gallente aren't repeating past events and trying to steal our homeworld again. I do have to say, given President Roden's political platform during his election and his ties with arms industries, I am pleasantly surprised he has agreed to this.
Obviously I have some concerns over the fact private military contractors will be doing the rest of the clean up and security in the future, and the fact that there are Gallente Naval forces in the area also means they could choose to renege on their part of the deal at any time (I would much rather the entire system be declared a DMZ), but at least they are finally leaving our home world. |

So long as Caldari Prime is administered by the State, demilitarization seems an acceptable solution. I worry, however, that this deal will collapse if partisans begin reprisal strikes, whether Provist, Black Eagle, or unaffiliated forces. |

Indeed. While I am willing to believe neither side is quite as crazy as 200 years ago, the fact still stands, that the events leading to the loss of our home were at least in part instigated by a terrorist attack. |

the attempt by Templis Dragonaur vessels to blockade the SuVee aid operation tonight suggests we're not out of the woods as far as crazies go just yet, but it also proves that the level heads who will brook no such nonsense are in the majority.

Tuulinen-haan; duly noted. Still, I wonder about the implications posed by counter-terrorism operations by a DMZ. At what point does a police action become paramilitary, essentially?
I suspect that is part of the supposed issue with the cargo scans of the Ishukone Corporation freighters. Any aid distribution activity likely needs security, and if the uninitiated saw marines on a scan... |

This news is welcome indeed.
The CEP has proven itself reasonable in this regard and I am pleased to see it taking charge with wisdom such as this. (This is meant in the utmost respect).
Now I pray the Federation proves amenable to wisdom as well and follows suit. Perhaps the future may be brighter for both of our peoples yet. |

See, this is the nice thing about a big battle.
It's easy to support an extremist platform in peacetime, shouting slogans claiming Luminaire is completely for the Gallente, or that the Caldari should exterminate the Gallente... but the moment a big fight actually occurs, and people shed blood over these slogans, everyone realizes that maybe a moderate, reasonable negotiation is the way to go.
Glad to see that not everyone in the Fed and State are loud-mouthed, pompous windbags.
Oh, and State supporters? There's a certain man in charge of your State who is attempting to impose his will over the will of the Mega CEO's... I don't think I'm out of line in suggesting that you find and execute him. It would certainly avoid a lot of potential complications in the long-term. |

DMZ... this was a weak and indecent move, but still it is for better of our people.
Luckily, Gallente Prime and other gallentean territories are not DMZ. We must use it to retaliate them there. While gallenteans have weapons, none of DMZ declarations will provide safety to Home Planet. Gallentes already show that they break treaties, and we must force them to never break it again. |

Glad to hear of progress on this front. President Roden has done much to dispel a good deal of my personnel suspicions by supporting this move and certainly restored a bit of my faith in regards to the possibility of peace. It also eases my mind to see the CEP throwing its weight around the way it should. The weak of mind are quick to judge with slightest tempt; Thus fools go forth to spread false word.

This is very welcome news. Many people on both sides have worked and advocated for this day to come, some resigned to the conclusion that it probably never would. I know I had only the faintest hope of seeing this kind of peace. To see that hope fulfilled is truly a joy. For those on Caldari Prime, their future can now be one defined by the opportunity to forge the difficult peace between Gallente and Caldari.
Before we celebrate, however, let us not forget the sacrifices that have been made. I, for one, will take this day to reflect on the many lives lost in centuries of conflict over this torn world. Particularly, we must remember those lost in last month's definitive battle. Brave men and women in both the Federation and Caldari Navies, as well as Federal Defense Union and State Protectorate ground forces, fought to defend the lives of their people. Innocent civilians of both nationalities died in the collateral damage that resulted. We must honor their bravery, and not forget the price they paid so that we could have this day of peace.
I would also like to thank those Caldari who supported the call for peace, particularly those who openly opposed the warmongering of Tibus Heth. The Ishukone Corporation, in particular, and those Capsuleers who champion its interests have distinguished themselves greatly in the cause of peace. I can not express enough my respect for their part in this historic compromise.
For the Fallen, and for the Peacemakers: you have my thanks. |

Two, MAYBE you will READ first what others write before displaying yourself as utter ignorant spitting some ridiculous nonsence? And maybe you stop behave ridiculously like I was trying to 'stop' or 'prevent' DMZ, and maybe you will decide to read again what I has written and realise, if you have something left to realise with, that I was suggesting to strike exactly, following your words, 'plenty of other systems'?

Maybe now that calm and moderate heads have prevailed we can consign the likes of Kim and Heth to the scrapheap of history. It's good to see that diplomacy still has a chance to succeed in our violent and sometimes arbitrary universe. It's sad that so many had to die before both sides in this conflict could come to the bargaining table.
This gives me a bit of hope that even the most seemingly intractable situations can be peacefully resolved. What you want is irrelevant, what you've chosen is at hand. |

I intervened when the Caldari Navy was attacked, and delivered an Industrial full of aid supplies. I then rescued both Federal and State citizens from the ground of Home no more than three hours after Shiigeru's death. I've put my crew and my assets on the line fighting Heth's cronies and I've escorted eight Freighters worth of other people's goods.
Who are the REAL humanitarians here, Sygarius? What have YOU done?
Of course, as you say, I'm also the other side of that coin. I would be very disappointed if it should come back to trading terror for terror, but that option will always be in a drawer, waiting. |

Now that I think about it more. I definitely wonder if the Federation could be convinced to make the entire Luminaire system a DMZ. While I am quite liberal in my views (I do hail from Ishukone after all), and am willing to trust A Gallente; given the history between our people, I am much more hesitant to trust THE Gallente. Is the Federation Navy is still able to operate in Luminaire, that does give them something over us; some parity would likely be much better for long term peace, and that means both navies or neither, and neither will lead to less tension and less debris falling on civilians. |

To be honest, I'm quite happy to allow the Gallente Navy to operate freely in Luminaire. Let's be honest, if it comes down to it and they find themselves in a position of needing to deploy fleet assets over Home, it means things have broken down so badly that they'll simply break any armistice.
When have we ever fought for any other part of the Luminaire system? This gives us Home and it does so in a way that is actually in the Gallente interest to maintain. |

The Federation comes out looking more or less clean, give or take a few decades of retrospect and revisionist history. But this is as good an outcome that we could have expected with the loss of orbital control.
It may be to the Federation's advantage that we are now forced to look inwards, but it may be to ours that we do so swiftly and decisively. As much as I am loathe to give advantage to an enemy of the State, the current state of affairs cannot be allowed to continue.
The less infighting we as capsuleers engage in, the swifter we may resolve any further CPD overstepping. Our part in this is small but significant, and we must present a united front in support of the CEP at large. Sukuuvestaa and Ishukone have shown their hands with their current dealings with the Federation in spite of Heth's clear opposition. It's time for the other four who voted in favour of the DMZ resolution to come forwards in act as well as politics.
