Ok, I know and accept that pirates will blow up your ship and rob you blind. It's a fact of the game. But why do all the pirates I run into pod me instantly? It doesn't benifit them in the slightest, the only reason would be for the fun of killing off a defensless enemy who couldn't possibly harm you? So why do you pod, pirates?

Usaly when it's "Alliance" people who don't pay ransom and get blown up. I will attempt to ransom the pod. Always don't pay so yeah. Other than that. Really don't care about collecting some weak guys corpse. Others do however, but yeah great kill.

I pod to grief (implants, clone, etc..) and to get u out of local. Ransoming is boring and pointless, rather pod ya and send ya somewhere else out of my space. Plus you get love letters. -----------------------------------------------

And thats why you people should NEVER talk to pie-rats or accept ransoming. It's their bullying natures fuel to get "love letters" and while your weak and frustrated you might say something bad and pie-rats gets a nice bonus of petitioning your sorry ass for harasment when they itself did that. Dont talk to 'em. It's not worth of it. Infact, we should start a list of known pie-rats and put ignore on 'em ingame. Podding a pilot can also prevent them from docking and returning in a combat fitted ship to take the snipers down. It also prevents them from warning any other pilots in local.

In 0.0 we usually toll pods. In Empire there is no time at a gate to toll. If sniping you even cannot scramble the pod. Fastlocking frigates cannot be used close to sentry guns. So we kill everyone. If you do not want to get killed YOU HAVE TO INTERACT! If you jump into a system with pirates and have visual to red blinking ships, stay cloaked and instantly convo one of them. Don¦t waste time! Instantly tell em you are willing to pay. Remember time is running! Once you uncloak, they will try to kill you. Only way to change this is to convo in time, pay as fast as possible and hope the wallet of the pirate blinks fast.
We demanded tolling options like the "strike colors button" for so long - nothing happens. A strike colors button that would imobilize a ship and that would give time for tollings is the solution.
press "strike colors": - your ship cannot warp/move - your ship gets white filled bracked - all modules disabled (especially cloaks) - locks on your ship break - but you can be locked again - if you want to leave this mode, your ship will start blinking white for 30 seconds, then it is fully mobile again.
This feature would make it possible to have the time to toll people at 0.4 gates.
Example: indy jumps into Aunenen. 4 sniper-Bs 152 km from gate. Indy is still claoked. Indy-pilot can now decide: do i try to run or to barther? He decides to barther, presses "strike colors-button". Ship uncloaks and gets into strike colors mode. It must be possible to kill ships that gave up to prevent exploiting the strike colors mode. Now pirates have the decission: kill ship with white flag or toll? If they kill they should get a MASSIVE sec hit. -10.0 at once! In our example here, the pirates decide to open a convo and toll the indy. Indypilot tells he has an empty cargohold, pirates send a friggi to scan cargo. Indy-pilot did lie, so they demand 20 mil of him (for 40 mil minerals in hold). He pays - he leaves strike colors mode and warps away after 30 seconds.
All in all a big improvement - get away from ganking.

Edited by: Muthsera on 08/09/2005 07:53:47 Pod killing is a way to enforce an area control. Personally I don't care really if they pod them or not in empire space. But in deep I feel a grudge everytime an oponent/neutral pod manage to warps out. (however we do get most) It's no diffrent from blowing up ships in my opinion. But your wrong. A pod could actually harm you. It can relay possisions/scans/numbers/etc from the system. And could come back in another ship.
Secondly Foulis. There are no pirates anymore. There are very few that live from taking out ships in empire alone. I might idmit that there are part time pirates. But usually it's just mersinaries. SoonÖ

Edited by: Shiva Seran on 08/09/2005 07:52:37 i'd really like that lifewire...
only problem - some people want to reach -10.00 and this would be the most comfortable way for them. the only improvement would be, that noone can target the ship from more than 500m, instead of just breaking the lock. a frig would be able to scan but no other "random incomings" were able to make profit from a ship standing white flagged at a gate in low sec...

For "strike colors" to be sensible, the ship that did "surrender" need to be protected after it leave their white flagged mode. For a x amount of minutes to be able to get clear from the system. Or else its pointless.
Either that or a MASSIVE negative standing hit or other kind of penality for players who kill someone who did strike their colors. As standing penality wouldnt consern most pirates, a giant fine from Concorde or similar would perhaps be better

A better question would be: Why don't you warp away in your pod, in stead of inviting destruction by hanging around after the destruction of your ship.
It's tactical. Try to figure out why.
EDIT: Why is an [EV] pilot even asking this? Couldn't your corpmates tell you? ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

No - in naval warfare there were incidents of ships sinking other ships that had a white flag. It¦s a warcrime and should be possible in the game. But it should lead to a -10.0 sec hit.
In fact you would "give up" or "surrender". It depends on the honorfull behaviuor of your opponent if he will kill or show mercy. I know for sure that Teddybears, Tundragon and Bonecollectors pilots would try to toll you if you surrender. Even if it¦s only a Kessi for 300K ISK we would toll it for 100K - or kill it if the pilot doesnt want to pay. We pirate for ISK and reputation. Both can be earned with tollings.

Or, in short, pirates don't smacktalk, carebears do. Podding is to remove the victim from local, so they don't act like an ass. -- Lame, lame, lame. This is Dark Shikari, but I forgot to renew my account (LOL). Be back on my main in a day or two.

I pod, have always podded, and will continue to pod because any job worth doing is worth doing right.
Podding is done for several reasons. The corpse is a trophy, the target may have implants, it forces the target out of the immediate area, the sound is awesome and it's a very definite END to the fight. It's the period at the end of the sentence.
Just killing the ship is pointless, in my opinion. It's not like players drop that good loot on a regular basis; you might as well get a corpse out of it. ---
