Twice since DT today, I have had two DS mission, Sansha Spies and Damsel. Using my cruise sniperaven. I have started to fire on a new group at >100km range. The whole DS area disappears. Not just from overview but completely. Have to warp out and back in to see anything again.
If I engage at <100km everything is fine.
Bug report submitted. Anyone else had this problem?

This is because of the way s'space' works in Eve. In fact there isn't one big 'universe', Eve is broken down into compartments and it's easy (if you're holding range) for your ship (or theirs) to drift into another compartment and lose contact. You can warp out and back or turn around and cross the threshold again - of course the latter might be more dangerous :)

I had the same problem, for the very fist time, today doing L4 Silence the Informant. I just turned my ship around (opposite direction) and headed back in. Once I made contact again I stopped my ship and killed the Serps at max range. They did not move, just sat there and let me kill them. They didn't even fire at me. This happened on the 1st and 2nd level.

Shooting the rats while your possibly off the grid is prolly considered an exploit.

larger grids for DS missions. Some NPCs at roid belts vanish as well.

This is happening for non dead space missions as well. Dissapearing ships can still be seen on the scanner.
Highly annoying

@ Storme
Thx for that m8, but I know about the grid issue and I don't think this is it. I have had loads of DS missions in this location with no problem, then 2 with the same bug straight after DT. Coincidence? Possibly, but I somehow doubt it....which is why I B reported it. But cheers for the heads-up. In any case, I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

I had this happen to me a number of times last night. I believe is a glitch in eve. I have found that if you warp out and warp back in at 15km the rats reappear. Which may or may not be good depending on your ship, speed and setup. I took a friend with me and not only did all the npcs disappear, but i did once i got further than 15-20km from his harpy. It is an annoyance but one that can be resolved by warping out and back in. It did not seem as though the npcs continued hitting me once they disappeared. But not sure on this point.

Yeah thats how its happening to me, for my set-up where I like to be at >100km its more than an annoyance

Agreed. Had it happen twice last night for the first time in RL 1.5 years of playing EVE. Both times were in (different) open space missions. Once at a distance of ~50 km and another time at a distance of ~75 km, moving away from rats at normal Raven speed (~145 m/sec).
Really annoying.

Three of us were doing the final level of the angel extravaganza on Friday night and had the same problem, only with one difference: on several occasions either one or two of us would disapear (with or without our drones etc and in some cases along with the nearby rats!) and reappear in a new area of space (with some of our drones and as sstated occasionally a few of the rats - this was especially nasty for a friend in a BC who arived in a random area with a 1m isk BS at 30km), whilst the other rats and gang members remained in the mission area.
This happened several times and as well as happening to us it seemed to happen to rats too as some disapeared (on occasion without us) only to return 10 mins later (fully healed!).
I dont think it was about grids as we were fighting from 70km range also friends disapread when they were within 10km range of me and whilst positioned between me and other gang members locations.
My guess is that it was due to a bug in Eve.

had this problem with a corp mate but it is worse than just losing each other, She somehow drug a few NPC bs with her. they seemed to get stuck across these grid lines. I would have to use the approach command to find her and help take out the bs on one side then go back to the other side of the grid. I'd think you can see the problem here that some are very likely to start using, I would consider verging on exploiting game flaws.

yep its happened to me repeatadly on infiltrated outpost mission.i were'nt gonna say anything as im keeping both missions running for the respawn for the mins ya get from the drones. but since you have.if i aggro the grp though and then leave the field i can turn around and head back in to it and fire on everything i had aggroed b4 leaving and they dont fire bck.. i lost my ship in the second lvl a few days ago on warp in to second lvl i got stuck in the structure rather than spat out at stupid speeds. when i asked for reinbursment i got a reply saying no because they dont know whether its a bug or normal game mechanics?would think they should know.but there. so i was keeping quiet cause you know i dont know if its a bug or normal game mechanics.....scratch my back ill scratch yours kinda thing

IŠve had to petition this twice in 3 days now, non-DS missions, the ships were less than 30km from me at the time. I havent had any problems with this for almost a year before last patch, so i guess this is yet another old bug showing its ugly face again..

Edited by: MiddleWoman on 12/09/2005 19:42:58 Edited by: MiddleWoman on 12/09/2005 19:42:32 Yes, was doing a little 3/10 complex (Dabrid) and had to be away from comp for a few minutes so headed away from rats with AB on...must have crossed the barrier mentioned cause no rats when I returned....turned around and headed opposite direction till they reappeared...only rats I then fired upon would return fire...the rest ignored me if I didnt attackt them...felt cheap but I was already in there so finished it.

I had a similar problem with a non-ds mission as well. In fact, I had some rats go onto a seperate grid with me, while two rats stayed on the main grid. I had to warp back to the original encounter point to get those other two enemies to appear again. Most retarded bug ever.

This has happened to me several times. Although I haven't filed a bug report, when it does happen to me again I will. A friend of mine had it happen on the 6th level of an angel extraviganza and when he warped out and back in, he couldn't finish the 6th level cause he lost the required tag as well.
He did file a bug report and the response he recieved was "We have no record of this happening to anyone else, we will not re-imburse your lost tag." I would encourage everyone who experiences this in the future to file a bug report. If you have 3 people with you I would say its best that al three file bug reports. This way we can make certain they know about it and we can automatically flag their canned response as horse-**** and make them at least acknowledge the problem to arrive at the next canned response : "we are aware of the problem and are seeking a solution to resolve it, your patience is greatly appreaciated, and you are a valued customer. We still will not reimburse your lost tag."
