Hi,
I recently tried a ladar combat site ( I guess they are 6/10 DEDs?) with a standard 500-600m Tengu and I horribly failed of course. Now I wondered if those sites are even doable without flying a 2-3b Tengu.
Can someone point me to the right direction and give me some example fittings? Should I forget about Tengu and try something else?
Thanks |

It really depends which one. What rats? Low or null? Did you try to kill everything or just hack the cans? |

Blood Raiders in 0.1-0.3
I tried to rush it but the DPS is just too high. |

First of all the tengu does much better dps vs serpentis/guristas because it has a kinetic damage bonus, and those rats are weak to kinetic. Secondly EM damage is pretty hard on shields because the resists are poor (with some exceptions, for example minmatar t2).
What is your EM/Thermal resist on your shield?

Yeah you are absolutly right, I just saw that my EM is 30% and Thermal at 86%. Until now I was doing regular Radar and Mag sites, which was totally fine with this cheap tengu. I just recently heard that combat ladar sites are worth something, so I just tried one and failed of course ;)
What do you suggest? My initial goal was an Ishtar. I would have a 321,02 Tank against guristas (EVEHQ values) with a fitting I choosed. Problem is, I have to wait 20+ days to finish my Ogre II skills. Thats the only reason why I started exploring with a tengu. I could change the region to get weak kinetic enemies, but I feel pretty safe where I am at the moment. |

I thought you are supposed to do sentries, not heavy scouts... Life is short and dinner time is chancy Eat dessert first! |

I regularly run CHAIN Mindflood Distribution Base in a Tengu (and occasionally hit Chemical Labs when pickings are slim) in a Tengu. But you do have to plug the EM hole. I run with a deadspace SSB, deadspace EM ward, and T2 EM rig plus a T2 invuln and it gets the job done unless you get caught up on rocks.
Clearing all the rats, by the by, is just about the worst thing you can do, particularly in the distribution base. Doing so triggers a wave full of elite neut cruisers. Which means you more or less have to hack the cans under at least some fire.

Either plug that hole or move to Serp space (Serps because you won't face the huge competition of Guristas; also Solitude is right next door).
I honestly don't see an Ishtar as much of an advantage for Ladars specifically. Great for other things though. But for goodness' sake get T2 sentries over T2 heavies. |

I think moving to Serp space is really the most effective way for me, its really close to my spot.
How much tank should I bring for those sites (EVEHQ Values)?
Guristas have more competition? Why that? Is the loot so much better in Guristas sites? Was about to fly into Guristas space with my scanning alt to see how crowded it is (Lonetrek). |

Right around the corner. I tend to see more roaming gangs in Solitude than Aridia, so watch for that. Less camps though.

Umm. I don't really use EVEHQ. I will say this though: tanking a Tengu for Serpentis is trivial. Depending on the site I have no real issues running an invuln/EM setup, but a single kin/single therm hardener setup with your booster of choice will make them easy.

Guristas drop the most valuable deadspace mods in the game (Pithum Invulns). The medium shield boosters are quite nice as well. It creates plenty of interest in the area, which of course bleeds into the combat ladars as well. |

So after some nights in Serp space I have to say its pretty damn demotivating Most of the time I just play at night for a short roam scanning 5-6 systems to relax and find awesome stuff. First day was great, found 3x300m skillbooks. Now I realize at those playtimes there is just nothing left of value, everything is already farmed and no sites left.
Sucks that exploration only has its value right after downtime |
