Random CorpOwner wrote:First off let me start by saying I have been playing eve online for around 9 years, and for the last month and a half I have started scamming people. It is the first time in my eve career that I have ever taken anything from another player, that was not mine using anything aside from force. I have done alliance scams, double isk scams, market and contract scams, and pretty much any trick you can think of and I bet some you have not thought of. Today in only a month and a half I have made 32 BILLION isk...
So while I wait for my super carrier to be delivered I have a moment to reflect.
First off if you are a new player to eve. I highly recommend you take up scamming people. It is the only career in eve that has absolutely no risk what so ever. I have made 32 billion isk, and the whole time simply got to pvp on my main. Its like setting traps and going through out your day and just checking on them before you go to bed.
I will never again rat, mine, trade, or capture pocos and poses with my main and his corp. There is no reason for me to take up building stuff, or anything that generates isk; as a scammer I have an endless supply of isk. Its like growing fruit. You just have to go pluck it once a week and you will never go hungry.
On my main, I own a corp. A pretty well off corp with a bit over a hundred members, and I am an outstanding dood. My guys love me and we have a blast.... We get a few new people in asking me what they should do in eve to earn money. I have to restrain from telling them to start scamming and that bothers me.
I feel like where this is a valid and healthy mechanic, it is fundamentally flawed. It is the only way in eve that you can make ISK and never put anything on the line. Absolutely nothing at all! I have made 32 BILLION isk, with my alts and never had to undock aside from one time. I robbed a corp for 10 billion... and never even saw them in local. Sure it was there fault... but why do they have to take all the risk when I am the one that stands to be rewarded?
So then that presents a question.........
How long will it be before people stop playing the game and just try to scam each other out of their ISK? How long will it take before everyone catches on and realizes that there is no need for missions, mining or anything else when you can just scam on an alt?
I feel like I am honestly late to the buffet. I feel like the majority of long term players have already discovered this as a means of funding their accounts as well as their play toys.. ohh and on that note.. I WILL NEVER HAVE TO PAY FOR EVE AGAIN! When it gets to the last week or so of my account.. I just scam someone for some isk and buy a plex. I have eaten good for my lunch breaks at work, all because I have 45 bucks extra a month.. Eve has become free to me! Ill let someone else pay for my account.. who knows it might be some of you reading this right now... HAHA DISABILITY ;)
Seriously guys, if you have not started scamming you really should! Why waste your time "working" why worry about complicated spread sheets, or risk assessment... just scam and then funnel the money to an alt... or a couple if you want to get paranoid and make sure its not obvious by looking at your API key.
Scamming isn't a power thing to me.. I don't enjoy taking whats not mine so easily... I get no kicks out of it. I suppose like most scammers say "its just business"... It is absolutely with out any doubt the easiest way to make isk in EVE.
Frankly I can't figure out if there is any other reason I would want to do anything else in eve that generates ISK and I bet if you guys gave it an honest try for about a week (it takes a couple days to get into the groove), you would agree completely with me!
Just give it another few weeks before the novelty wears off.
I tried scamming when i joined a null alliance on an alt, and it turned out i was very good at it, the buzz of seeing all those assets and isk coming to me was intense, for the first 3 months. Then it stopped being a challenge and became kind of meh.
That said, i cant argue that scamming is the best money maker in the entire game for time to isk ratio.
I lost interest completely after 6 months of it, scammed 1 nyx 5 dreads and over 30 carriers from people, not to mention assets and isk ( i came damn close to getting a mackinaw T2 BPO before the mark got skittish, thats the worst feeling eve has ever given me yet )
Takes a rare breed to be able to scam 7yr old player out of 25b of assets and isk in one swoop, but i can count myself amongst that group and be set up for years to come now because of it. From my spoils i bought an Avatar pilot, my actual ship is still 3 weeks left in build and i have a touch under 90b liquid left to scrape a living off now ;)
TLDR: Scamming is awesome initially and makes you rich if your good at it, but gets boring when the challenge disappears.

Scamming is great tbh, I used to do it a lot, and made a tidy 200-300bil over a year or so of scamming (I got very lucky with some!) my biggest scam being 25.2bil selling someone else's station in Omist.
Scamming has become a lot more intelligent. CCP have always said that scamming will be legal, but unfortunately they are making it harder and harder to actually pull anything off. Soon, even the easy-peasey wormhole robbery scams aren't going to be worth doing!
I haven't scammed in a few years.. (Not with this toon anyway), but if you want to be a good scammer, you have to be intelligent, and you have to think of something new, fresh and something engaging. If it seems one sided, or too good to be true, people usually believe that it is :) -Buhhd |

Are you sure you havenGÇÖt been scammed? After 9 years you have stopped leaving dock and abandoned whole sections of the game just to hoard ISK.
What is the purpose of ISK if not to help you enjoy other areas of this game.
I will run missions, station trade, do manufacturing, rat, etc. I will make ISK and lose ISK. I will be sad and happyGǪ and enjoy the game. So if I had a special key that game me 1 Trillion ISK, I would throw it awayGǪ because it would destroy the game for me.
Reward without risk would be hollow.
Just my opinion.

Your not one of those guys that is trying to bring back the old 'misnamed ship-station-trade' scam are you? I've had three of those guys try that 9 year old trick on me in the last month. Used-up to say the least.

You know you are a complete noob when you create an alt to try to ask this guy to allow you to be his apprentice, but forget to give the character any ISK - he can't even afford the CSPA mail charges.

so you played for 9 years, only started to scam a month or so ago, and now you bought a flying coffin with your isk.

Yet another reason why alts and multiple accounts makes Eve a lesser game than i can be and takes away from 'consequences' and risk vs reward'.
