Hi, I have a problem. I am running extravaganza lvl 3 and as soon as i want to engage a fight my system crashes to blue screen with a "bad_pool_header". Does anybody know what the reason could be? Any advices? Thanks in advance Otzendon

Let me guess running Windows XP SP2?
Anyway, I kept getting the same thing (exactly the same thing!!). It appears the error occurs to a fact that eve sends a command to sound card to generate a specific "shoot sound", something happens and you get a blue screen
To make long story short: Disable all sound in EVE client. ALL SOUND. Uncheck Audio Enable (in Audio tab), and put all volume slides to zero! Problem will be fix and you can play EVE with no bluescreen.
At a time I am not aware if there is any solution Some people will tell you to update your sound card drivers. But my sound card drivers are up to date, so I am stuck with this =| Nor can I update my sound card.
But hey! ^^; I can listen to WinAMP on the background

I am glad to help.
Originally by: Otzendon P.S. BTW Yes I have SP2 on my machine.
The blue screen with a "bad_pool_header" is unique to SP2 and poor written drivers, from what I read.
Out of curiosity: What kind of sound card do you have?

Is your soundcard an onboard Card ?
Try downloading a new driver version for it, or update your bios.
I had the same problem, in one of my old machines, turned out to be the onboard sound card.
I disabled it, and bouhgt a cheap AGP soundcard, had no problems whatsoever after that, i run all 3 machines i have on XP pro with service pack 2 So Say I. Einheriar Ulrich of the Bloodline of Einheriar.

My sound cames from onboard RealTek AC'97 chip, ALC880. Real powerful version. But I can not find newest drivers for it =| I have Sony Vaio, and Sony does not supply any new drivers for my sound card.
So I guess I am stuck with playing without a sound

After patching to 3582, I also started to have Windows XP (SP2) stop errors (BSOD) during combat and sometimes during travel. It was always correlated with the production of various interesting sounds.
Given the [poor] history of Eve and Sound (bad for a game...) for other people, I figured it was my sound card driver.
Turning off the sound (using config screen) stopped the computer crashing. Putting it back on meant crashes. I was already using med-low hardware acceleration.
I upgraded my driver (SB Audigy 2) using Creative Lab's online auto-upgrade tool and the crashes have since stopped.
I'm sure they will return later, but for now I can hear noises like in other games :)

I was having the same issue where I'd get the blue screen of obnoxious. At first I thought it was my vid drivers so I did a complete reformat (it was overdue anyway) and got everything set up. Well, it fixed the blue screen issue but instead just insta-crashes my system. I thought it was an issue with deadspace since being a Rook that was the only 'combat' I'd seen. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced skipping the blue screen and going to a straight system reboot during combat? I could usually pop off a few shots and fight for a little while before this happened so I wanted to see if the problem I was having was the same as this or if I might have a whole other set ofissues.

Thats exactly what happens to me, turn off your sound it fixes it. so you can play, you just won't be able to hear anything, also i'm curious as to what weapons and such you people are using that causes these crashes, i myself am using some 250 mm artys on a rifter.

It seems to me, it does not matter what weapon you use, for I always crashed whenever the fire "boom" sound is suppose to be played =\ And it does not matter if me is firing it, because whenever NPC would shoot me, it would crash me too.

Thanks SO much for this, I just bumped to add that it seems to be the "Glancing Hit" sound, since I did an experiment and noted that when in a Raven with a huge sig radius it happened very rarely, so I hopped into a shuttle and flew towards rats, bingo BSOD. Dunno if that's any help.

Edited by: Krxon Blade on 09/09/2006 01:11:06 I also had issues with my new PC configuration with "Creative X-fi Extreeme music" sound blaster. I had random BSODs only in games. I suspected at everything, PC, RAM, GPU, PSU, but everything was good.
fresh win xp with sp 2 2 x 1 gb kingmax ram, amd 64 bit 3500+ venice abit kn8 Ultra nvidia nforce 4 nvidia geeforce 7600 GT gpu fortron 500 w x-fi SB latest bios and drivers, onboard audio was disabled.
And EVE BSODed randomly, even with ingame audio disabled.
After many memtests, PC tests, various benchmarks I finaly tried to pull that x-fi soundblaster out from PC. Guess what? BSODs stopped. 10 days without any PC crash or BSOD.
Latter I found on dedicated forums that x-fi series of soundblasters caused alot of simmilar problems with many other PCes.
Alot of hardware is so crappy made, untested, uncompatible with other manufacturers, poor written drivers, etc...
Market race is simply too fast, and we are paying that with our money and nerves.
Yarr to poor hardware --
