So I've started to get into station trading. I'm now considering grinding standings to lower the broker fee. Three questions:
1. What is the best way to raise corp standings (with the corp that owns the station)? 2. What is the best way to raise faction standings? 3. Is the process worth the hassle of grindings standings? My trading character doesn't have any combat skills, but I have a tengu character that could grind missions with him in fleet and share rewards. |

Combat missions are for ISK. To grind standings you should run distrubution missions, as they are much faster. The all important storyline missions come every 16 missions regardless of what type you run.
I like to fit a magnate with a full set of cargo expanders in lows and cargo optimizer rigs. With this set up you can haul 2-3 level 2 mission packages at the same time. Running missions in a frigate is quite fast, and your magnate warps quickly enough you can even venture into lowsec without much chance of being locked before you warp.
Open your target corporation's info window in people and places, and click on the agents tab. Find at least 2, preferably 3 or 4, agents in the same or adjacent systems. Level 2 agents if you can, level 1 is better than nothing. You don't want to mess with level 3 or higher as the mission packages will start getting too big to fit in your frigate. Accept several missions at a time, load up with multiple packages. You will find a lot of the travel overlaps, so you complete missions faster than if you run them one at a time.
You want to complete all the storylines, but some storylines will require combat. Run the combat missions with a combat trained alt or get a friend to help. Still, you're only talking level 2, if your trade alt has any combat skills at all level 2s aren't hard, its not like you need great skills and a battleship like you would for level 4s. |

Perhaps not the best way, but the easiest way i've found is to have the combat pilot blitz level 3s. Share the rewards until the trader account can get them himself. Trader account should train up connections to 3 or so to speed it up. Once the trader can request level 3s, you have him get the missions and keep all the rewards. You will have to have the trader undock and warp fleet to the mission site, but he can instantly cancel warp. Do the same for the storyline missions.
You can probably find the math to see if it's worth it, but if you have him train up for refining as well, 0% "we take" is nice as well.
With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

1. Best way first is to train skills. Then you will want a high faction standing which will unlock more agents willing to give you missions. Then it simply depends on how many alts you have, what your trained for, etc. You can do L4 security missions, or if you have mining+orca alts you can grind though L4 mining missions rather quickly. Otherwise if you want to unlock alot of corp standings (some standings with many corps) chaining L2/L3 distribution missions in a constellation (requesting 8 missions at a time hoping many of them go to the same stations) will unlock agents very quickly.
2. Do the 4 tutorial mission storylines (starting missions) for each faction. Next buy up faction tags and do the data center hand ins. Then you can do the sisters of Eve mission storyline. After that its simply grinding missions to unlock storyline missions.
You can also do FW, but this will hurt standings with other factions and IIRC takes a while before you get descent standing results. Cosmos missions are an option but they are dreadful to do, with no descent walkthoughs, confusing and honestly take up much more time then if you were simply grinding missions.
3. It totally depends really. Are you going to trade alot? Are you going to be in a major trade hub? If you're going to compete in Jita don't expect to do very well. There are thousands of characters that have did the grind and can .01 items to make them not profitable to most players execept players who have great standings.
