Edited by: hellcane on 16/09/2005 18:36:15 done a thousand times, but couldnt find a search option for the forums.
i like how the moa has more...everything... but the extra missles and lower cost of the caracal is appealing.

Depends what you prefer; if you want a missile boat then go for the Caracal; it's also half the price so it won't cost as much to insure; i believe it's slightly faster too :).
I'll be getting a Moa though; can't stand missile boats, i don't want to rely solely on missiles, IMHO they should compliment a ship, not something you rely on to win you battles.

Yeah, it just depends on your style and what skills you want to train.
As to searching, try this thread.

In addition to obvious Missles vs. Rails debate,
Caracal is fast(well for caldari anyways) but cant tank for crap. The extreme range you get from missles means this ship works best as a kiter. I use a mwd to hold my distance, you probably wont be ablet to run it forever, but you wont need to usually.
Moa is really slow, but it tanks the best out of all tech 1 cruisers besides maybe the maller. Just load up with hardners and a tech 2 med sb and you'll be set.

You do that, then say hi to a plated Maller or Thorax... they won't take long to show why 1.5 k of hardened shield against 5 k of hardened armour just doesn't cut the mustard ¼¼;;

So why not a shield extended Moa?

"So why not a shield extended Moa?"
That 2.5 k shield i mentioned is with medium shield extender II ... the large shield extender plain doesn't fit with anything ;.;

Because the Moa only has 4 mids, which makes it 2 after the necessary midslot modules reason why it is better armor tanked. Even with a shield extender it will be less than what you get with plates, so there's no point using a shield extender anyways, especially in a world where the 1st damage is EM against which shields have a whooping 0% resist.

and..err....why not armour tank the Moa
It's got 4 mids and you can fit the 1600mm plate + small guns + EW setup (I seem to remember from the test server).
And for PvE, Moa is definitely better imo. Better tank and much better damage when you've got some decent skills

I've always preffered the caracel because it doesn't have to worry about tracking.
If anyone gets to close or keeps a high transversal vs your moa you're screwed.

Caracal > Moa - and armor tanks dont go in you mid slots they go in your lows. Also general rule of thumb NEVER attempt and armor tank on a caldari ship as they are in general no good for it. ----------------- *Decloaks and starts blasting your sig* Applesauce Biotch

Should have read 4 lows, changing now
Also, check all of the Moas stats. Yes, it can shieldtank better, but it can also armour tank relatively well too and, if you do stick EW in the mids, is worth it too (unless you want to stick damage mods in the lows instead)

"and..err....why not armour tank the Moa "
Yup, that's the whole irony of it... the ship actually makes a quite good armour tank, but lukewarm at best shield tank ^^;;
The poster i was originally replying to though, said Moa makes the best tech.1 cruiser tank with shield tank setup... and this just ain't true with modules as they are at the moment :<
