Give the rorq the ability to use a new type of mining fighter.
5 Max, simple.
Nothing crazy. Just somewhat on par with a hulk.
Stats similar to reg. fighters just with mining lasers.

Sure, with the drawback that the rorq needs to be on grid and deployed in order to use them.
That should end well. |

My intuition is kicking in and telling me that OP has never flown a Roq before.
I have never flown a roq before, but everything I know about capitals tells me that this is a horrible idea. As long as you can OGB inside of a POS shield the Roq doesn't belong anywhere near a belt. |

*shrug* they'll never be added to the game anyway. too much effort to code something that will see so little use. |

It would be better to fix current fighters so they are affected by damage amps. |

I would restrict them to Low end minerals As the hulks could focus on the high end ores like ABCs and the Mining Fighters could focus on the empire ores as these asteroids per m2 smaller than the ABC so there would be fewer miss cycles. I would only make this available if a Tech 2 Industrial module is attached. So you can't compress and mine at the same time. Needing a second Rorqual to be used to boost and Compress. Making the Tech 2 Mining Fighters only 25m3 would work, and only allow them if the Industrial module is deployed, Some day I will have the internet and be able to play again. |

aside from the fact that large grav sites are hilariously void of low ends.... |

Sound like a realy good idea and I would definetly use them.
But as someone pointed out that most people might not use them well...
1. Mining yield should be more than exhumers have (so that people would want to use these). bonuses should come from fighters skill and rorqual skill. No extra skill should be needed for something like this. 2. Make the new "fighters" cost abit more so it's just not too easy 3. Rorqual needs to be on the belt 4. Carrier could use the drones also if wanted but there would not be any ship bonuses to this
Now most of you might say why increase the mining yield. Well just simply because miners will not use the ships if they are not more effective than the exhumers.

this reminds me of another capital idea for mining:
AoE Mining - kill an entire belt in 1 hit with a pre-nerf doomsday effect
question is, why do you want to have a ship that can boost, compress, tractor, and mine all in one? sounds a bit over powered to me... |

Then they would be a perfect fit for everything up through Gneiss (except Plagioclase at 44.8/45 and Jaspet at 44/45), but your top-end ores would fill it to 32/45, maintaining only 71% mining efficiency. I think the Rorqual should be able to use any type of fighter, but with skill bonuses to mining fighters. The cool thing to see will be people who already have a carrier using mining fighters and the carrier's cargo bay as a makeshift mining ship, and others will fit Rorquals with warfare links and combat fighters and take them into capital warfare just for ***** and giggles.
Battle-rorqs are pretty tanky, TBH. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia Malcanis for CSM8 |
