Sad tidings. An undeclared war there, innocents and innocence being destroyed by both sides every day. And the world thought our new President would make the world a better place. He just seems more efficient at keeping the world opinion on his side - While upping the pace of remote bombing. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Pretty sure the whole "bombing a wedding" thing has happened before. A number of times... And so it goes. |

I actually don't believe that this is a recent article.
It isn't dated.
The comment section is locked as if it were an old article.
No other credible news source is reporting it, just links to the same article from forums and tweets.
Jump to the home page and explore those articles and compare. The current articles all number in the 2 millions vs this ones hundreds of thousands.
If you just add a 0 to the article number taking it to 1258210, it jumps to an article that is dated in 2010.
It all kinda suggests that this one might just be a tad behind. There was a wedding bombing in 2008 where 30ish people were killed and I can find info only find info on that one. |

From the 'current' article:
Quote:The bombing happened today in a village in the rugged, mountainous region 175 km (105 miles) northeast of the southern city of Kandahar, residents said.
from a 2002 article:
Quote:Afghans claim the wedding guests, who were celebrating near Deh Rawud village, in the mountainous province of Oruzgan, north of Kandahar,

...Why the devil do people feel the need to play this kind of one - upmanship with real world tragedies.
The reason why bombings that happen in America or other developed countries are getting more coverage is not because reasonable people care less about Afghan lives instead of US lives. It's because it has a greater impact to your typical man in the street, and more likely to be relevant. Are you more likely to travel/be in the US, or Afghanistan? Did our markets see a drop because of what happened in the US, or Afghanistan? The last time our world's main superpower went to war with another country, was it because of what transpired in the States, or because of conflict elsewhere? Not even taking into account the American media who have very good reason to report on an event in which their readership might have had a friend, relative, acquaintance involved, and as such have a personal stake in.
Something being equally worthy of sympathy does not necessarily translate automatically into it being equally newsworthy. If I died tomorrow, it would be sad, but you wouldn't see it being on the front - page news. Surely that means that other people perceive my life to be of less worth. The last time an EVE player passed away and it made news in the gaming media, it was almost unnoticed in mainstream media. Surely, according to the same line of thought, they're making light of gamers' lives. |

The news service added a date, most likely to the 10 jillion likes the article received in the last 24 hours along with people's abusing it as some sort of statement.
increment the article by one, none of their archived articles are dated that far back. |
