Just starting out in FW and got my first proper 1v1 win today.
ItGÇÖs a good feeling aint it! I think IGÇÖll try that again.
The biggest thing IGÇÖve learned so far is that the fight is pretty much won or lost before the challenger arrives on grid if you know what to fight and what not to. And I canGÇÖt find a good post Retribution rebalance guide to which fits counter which fits.
A link would be much appreciated.
TIA
Incidentally, IGÇÖm working my way through 10 Slashers, so even if you donGÇÖt have a link, a top 3 fights to take and top 3 fights to avoid would be a great startGǪ

Your corp buddies are the pvp guides/teachers in eve.
Find a good corp and join it. A few hours flying in a small gang with a good fc and you'll learn lots.

I plan on staying in the TLF for now actually, because I cant log in nearly enough to be consistent. But I can use the forums anytime. "Jita 4 4 spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious ..." |

Doesn't really work that way mate.. I could make a 3 page list for you and it wouldn't really help.
What you can and cannot fight is something you need to test and explore yourself and get a feel for it.. Its just not something you can really learn from a guide.

^^This,
Get out there and fight is a great way to learn.
Getting out there and fighting with a good corp who also likes that style of fighting is the quickest and best way to learn what can and can't be realistically engaged. That is the Way, the Tao.

It isn't just about the ship, but how it is fit. A rail corm will beat a kitting damp maulus or a kitting range td light missile condor. However, a rocket tracking td condor will beat the rail corm. Eve is a giant game of rock paper scissors for subcap small gang fights. The real trick is figuring out which one the other guy has and to also disguise your own fitting (IE it's fun to fly a tracking speed rocket condor every once in a while)

Loki-boosted T1 attack frigs (in numbers) beats everything. The rest is just overly complicated analysis of how many ewar mods your loki-boosted Caldari ship can fit up to roflstomp other race's pilots who fly either solo or without loki boosts.

Or if you fly solo, study kill boards and play with EFT for most ships to learn their strengths and weaknesses. You don't have to join a corp to learn stuff. This Space Intentionally Left Blank |

Eve is to complicated to figure out by looking at EFT for 99% of the population
The numbers you see are highly misleading if you don't know what they mean.. The best way to learn pvp is to join a good pvp corp, full stop. BYDI (Shadow cartel) Recruitment open!

Studying KB's and eft fits only give you about 25% of the picture.
Rarely does the killboard mention the 15 mins of bouncing around syst trying to seperate the prey from his blob. Or the fact that you killed a numerically DPS superior ship by staying out of his range or getting under his guns.
If you rely on EFT and KB you will die horribly and have no idea why 'cos you are flying the 'better' ship?!?!? WTF'
There are plenty of solo/small gang pvp corps out there. Having a corp is not just about being online all the time to fly with them it is about having like minded peopl to bounce ideas/tactics off so you can learn what works and what doesn't work so well. That is the Way, the Tao.
