Hello Dropbear,
Towards the end of this video, you and anther CCP employee were discussing working on something even "bigger", upside down incursions ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCf6pXHBFRM
Has that "project" been announced?

The comment about "upside down incursions" sounded like a joke and the one member on the panel that responded reacted with surprise. After reviewing the video the one thing I found interesting is that the Incursion system was designed so that the next feature built with it may not resemble today's Sansha incursions in anyway. Best guess is the bounty hunting changes allowing a gun running type of self policing of the movement of boosters and such. Becouse it requires updating the CrimeWatch code and the tranfer of the boosters was suppost ot happen in Estabilshments. They probably have to rewrite some or most of the code.
As Crime Watch was not included in the devblog about this winter It might have been set aside or might be what one of the upcoming devblogs is about. Who knows. |

I see you took the time to comment on something you obviously haven't read so I bolded the important parts.
This Computer which does not belong to me because I am not at home right now and will not be for a few hours doesn't have Speakers on it. I watch every Video that hints at new features and will watch it in full tonight, till then I would a quick summary of what this thread is about.
So if someone less useless could gimmie a hand with that it would be great.

Someone is overly sensitive (that one WAS directed at you.)
Let me rephrase the post you took so much offense to:
Quote: Can someone also explain to me what he said in the video? My problem is not a sound issue, it is that I am too lazy.
I can see where that might be difficult to understand if English is not your primary language, so I thought I'd clear it up.
I believe the OP pretty much said what the quote was. He hinted at something after and bigger than Incursions.

Huh, makes more sense. With the spelling I guessed he forgot the "is" or plain shorthand over it. I apologize Renan Ruivo.

They also want the other Faction versions to be completely different then Sansha's if they decide to implement it. They also want to do things with your standing towards the Nation like the Sansha's not shooting you above a certain standing to help pro Sansha's take sides. The upside down new Incursions the OP is talking about are left ambiguous.
Since I'm not really sure of the question even after watching the recording, I'll try cover the various bases. The above is a decent summary. These are things we'd like to do and have put some preliminary thinking into. Incursions are delivered by a new "tale" system, and it could do a lot more if we expanded it out. Incursions are just one very particular way to use it. Talk of upside down incursions is Headfirst having some fun, if that's not obvious.
Standings affecting aggression mechanics would require some more work to make happen with our new skynet NPCs, so while it's on the radar, it's not low hanging fruit and can't be ninja'd into the current setup as a backdor for Pro-Sansha to run interference (we tried, though).
As for big things coming beyond that, I referred in various panels back then about the second round of live events we'd be running. So a short plug of that: These events partly involve the Arek'Jaalan project that someone mentioned earlier. It's bigger because, where last time around you had massive fleet battles destroying eachother, this time around the task is creation and the scale of the job is much larger and more realistic. As an example, one of the recent and ongoing events involves gathering ~30b of materials to build a research outpost in Eram. The even larger goal behind this is to, put simply, make other players aware of the storyline, and maybe even start to care about it. Srs bsns.
Hopefully one of those replies answers your question.

Not quite. I was hoping you'd like to answer one of my questions regarding Incursions? A feature which I adore and love. Is the Incursion feature going to be tweaked, changed or in anyway altered within a given timeframe say 6 months? There're major flaws or perhaps call them disadvantages in the way highsec incursions are being handled by the playerbase and how incursions themselves accommodate the player base. (I am purposely leaving out the issues in regards to influence gains/drops and the need for incursion runners to make agreements to keep incursions alive for longer)
The changes I am specifically talking about are rewards for Assaults/Headquarters in comparison to vanguards. As you've mentioned in that recording, it was difficult for your team to assess the most popular sites and that would have to be looked on after the release. Have you been able to draw a picture now and are you planning on anything?
There's also a very nice opportunity for your team to add additional context or spice up the gameplay further with the Incursions. Here I am not talking about Live Events or similar (althought I love Live Events!). I am referring to the spawns and triggers of waves in an incursion site. I've on several occasions heard players state that they would much rather see a random trigger spawn and different wave compositions in the sites in order to make the sites less predictable and much more fun.
Would these changes be anything you've thought about implementing? quote CCP Spitfire

To add to Ammzi I would like to know a couple of things about future Incursions.
* Will you be expanding on the current system. Say like adding new sites? * Are you planing to go in a new direction instead such as a new faction? * Will the invasion ever change or end. Will we see a continuation or conclusion? * Are you considering a Static Group Raid system such as a Mission version or system that hosts them 24/7. Or will Raids only be for mobile events like Incursions. If so will it be new groups or Sansha still? * Will normal NPC's benefit from your AI and show more teamwork and skill. Perhaps allowing you to cut back on the number of Rats in Missions or make Ratting a challenge? * What is the Future not only for Incursions but the AI and Group Content in General?
If you have answers to any of these I would really appreciate it. |

Long quote... you guys can read it.
But ya.. wondering the same stuff.
Specifically I would like to encourage considering tweeking payout for assaults and hqs... to attract more individuals that almost religiously run VGs. One of the major issues i've seen with them is not getting enough people interested in running them in a timely fashion... and losing people in rapid succession. If they could be run on a rate that paid out considerably better than VGs... than most of the issues with high sec incursions would level out. If more people ran assaults and hqs... there would be less congestion in the VG systems... and i think it would combat alot of the frustration people have with trying to run incrusions.... so it might even cut down on the people willing to kill incursions early (at least considering the BTL gentlemen's rule).

Curious. Where/how was this notice of gathering 30B in materials announced/ roleplayed/ revealed? And who is in charge of this atm? Just seems interesting because despite saying you want to make other players aware, I'm not sure WHO is aware of this...

I'm taking part in Arek'Jalaan. Its fun. Mind you though, as Dropbear said, it is more scientific and focused on creation, not on blasting ships that much (at least not currently) and takes a lot of creativity to get into.
If that doesn't scare you away join the Arek'Jalaan chat. Dropbear himself (Hilen Tukoss) is there almost every day after 20:00 EVE time.
You can also mail me ingame and I'll forward you the introductionary message he sent when I asked about Arek'Jalaan. |

I'm not trying to troll here (as I often am pretty negative on these forums), but the EVE storyline is incredibly hard to follow. I mean yeah, there are the live events, and I've taken part in at least one of those, and I try to follow up on some of the stuff, but often it feels more like LARPing than storytelling. For example, this is the first time I've heard of "Arek'Jalaan" and I'm really not sure why I should care about who he is or what he's doing. I mean, people build outposts in nullsec every day... I'm not sure if the stuff is actually coming from the player economy, or if the completed thing will be a dockable thing or if it's just space decoration. And even if he succeeds, so what? Empire has lots of stations.
In other words, I love story and would love for the story to be more accessible and matter. |

There's so much of it at this point, that you'd best be served here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Arek%27Jaalan
Highlights include having a Blood Raider as head of the ethics committee, people doing research on a stolen gallente superweapon, and some guys interfacing with Rogue Drone hives... It's a wacky place.
But getting involved is as simple as subscribing to the mailing list and joining the channel: Arek'jaalan

Ok, I am a bit lost. I just fly to Eram system / Meinigefur Const / Metropolis Region / Sec status 0.8 and there is no research outpost. I do not know if: 1 - I am at wrong system. 2 - The outpost you are talking is a NPC station 3 - The outpost is a outpost, but is hide. 4 - ???
Sorry if i missundestand, but I really want to undestand what is going on. |
