I would simply nibble them off. Then I am not causing permanent harm. "I think you should buy a new Mayan calendar. Mine has muscle cars on it." --áKenneth O'Hara

Well Chinese Bamboo Torture took advantage of bamboo's propensity to grow quickly. How quickly? THREE FEET in a single day. 1.Tips of living bamboo were cut sharp to create a spear. 2.Sticking the Bamboo shoot below your fingernails 3.The bamboo pierced through the victim's skin and continued to grow through his hand , tearing through the ligaments , into your arm and IF you are lucky , it'll come out on the TOP of your shoulder , if not , it'll grow INTO your bones |

Id rather not, since the record of me being shot is on the net and includes my real name, location and several other things I'd rather not made public. "I think you should buy a new Mayan calendar. Mine has muscle cars on it." --áKenneth O'Hara

can you at least tell me where were you shot? I haven't shot myself yet , but I DID gave ,myself a 2nd degree burn when I was welding . (And thats why I pay someone else to fix my car now. There was another time where I damn nearly chopped my thumb off too back when I was playing with RC helis . Was balancing the blade weight and testing for discrepancies and uneven oscillations . And good ol me had the bright idea of holding the heli by the skids and then letting the thing rip. As soon as I start the heli up , one of the gyros locked up and the entire heli tilted sideway ,the gear below the heli slit my thumb like butter. Good thing it missed the ligaments , still got the scar tho. |

Graygor wrote:I've been shot before, couldnt hurt worse than that. You might be surprised. Nailbeds are loaded with nerve endings. Having had nails crushed off before (twice!), I can tell you that the initial pain rush is debilitating - That is, unable to speak, move, think. Couldn't even yell. Hell, couldn't even breathe. Just turned me into a meat & bone statue for 30 seconds or so... Pain growing larger with each heartbeat. Then voluntary and involuntary reaction and response returned. With a vengeance.
Now, I've never been shot, but I've recieved third degree burns before, and serious second degree burns, and a LOT of other pains over the years. The crushed nailbeds? Worse than anything except a raw exposed dental nerve.

I took a bullet to the shoulder and ricochet to the neck which missed my jugular by about 1/2 and inch.
The event is a blank. I remember looking down at the dirt and seeing blood and thinking incredibly clearly "wow... this is my blood."
Funnily enough all sound was muffled, but the images are burned into my brain. I can recall the dirt with prefect, crystal clarity. Its like my mind went into overdrive and thought "if you're dying you're remembering this bit".
Interestingly, its due to this happening that I met my mrs. "I think you should buy a new Mayan calendar. Mine has muscle cars on it." --áKenneth O'Hara

Hell no.
We have good surgeons here I dont even have a scar. Just a slight discolouration that is barely noticeable.

Aww.... shame ... It would have been an interesting conversation piece at the pub . Chicks digs scars . You could come up with stories of how you saved your comrade from 3000 Talibans back at your 20th tour with a scar such as that . |

Sorry, no war stories for me bar mundane stuff that isnt exciting unless you like tanks.
Armour fighting today is like eve fighting. You have a TC who is operating at different levels of command, sometimes it can be a single tank, or group, company or brigade. And you shoot what he tells you to shoot and move when he tells you... unless reality where you are says otherwise as the TC isnt God.... although they like to think they are... Very few people who have 'seen the elephant' care to talk about it. My father has the most amzing set of scars, but I learned about the causes of those scars mostly from his buddies, and even from a few folks as really don't like him. He's got a fearsome reputation in the SpecOps community, but he'll only tell you about the tools he made for soldiers (Graygor, I personally know the guy responsible for the kevlar pot, and the last generation of tanker's headsets and helmets - The guy worked for my father). Things that save soldiers lives? He'll brag on that. Kiling, or nearly being killed? Mum's the word.
Edit: My father directly worked on the armor protection of the M1 and M1A1, as well as on the Rhienmetal 120mm. Also did some work on the M16-A4 - I got to fire the prototype.
